BIG eliminate Virtus.Pro: BLAST Premier Fall Groups

As a long-time spectator of the CS:GO scene, I must say that the recent performance of BIG at the Fall Groups has been nothing short of impressive. Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, Alexander “kakafu” Szymanczyk (C), and Andrey “XomA” Mironenko (C) have been leading this team with a strong sense of determination and skill that is truly inspiring.

A much better showing from the German side.

In Group D, the initial team has been knocked out of the competition. BIG, on the other hand, clinched a narrow 2-1 victory over Virtus.Pro in a tense match on Ancient. This win kept them afloat amidst tough competition at The Fall Groups. Interestingly, both teams had a shaky start, but BIG, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat against NaVi earlier, fought back valiantly to keep their hopes of playing in Copenhagen alive.

A surprising win for BIG as Virtus.Pro struggles continue

Since Denis “electroNic” Sharipov became a part of Virtus.Pro, our team’s offensive power has significantly boosted. However, this upgrade seems to have come at the cost of a noticeable decline in our team synergy. This issue was even acknowledged by our In-Game Leader, Dzhami “Jame”, who hinted that electroNic might assume leadership responsibilities as well.

Yesterday, the discrepancy became apparent as Vice President’s strategies faltered during overtime versus Liquid, paving the way for newcomer sharpshooter Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak to secure an impressive first victory with a commanding performance.

Against BIG, Virtus.Pro usually has the upper hand, especially considering BIG’s difficulties against NaVi. However, it was crucial for VP to execute their strategies flawlessly, which unfortunately remained a challenge in this particular game.

BIG’s home map goes down to the wire – Dust2 13-11

Initially, Dust2’s pistol round favored BIG, syrsoN, and n0rb3r7, mimicking stormtroopers in their performance. Meanwhile, VP’s CT side faced difficulties, often conceding opening picks to the German team. By half-time, BIG was leading 8-4. Interestingly, tabseN’s team also experienced trouble setting up a defense post-half-time. Following a lost pistol round, VP managed to win five consecutive rounds, tying the game at 9-9.

As a gamer, In the heat of the game, both teams kept exchanging rounds, eventually tying at 11-11. With Big missing their double AWP, it was JDC who took on the secondary sniper role. After a fierce struggle, we managed to hold them off and secured the map win with a score of 13-11.

CT-capitulation continues – Mirage 13-10

In the Counter-Strike (CT) side of Mirage, BIG initiated the game, but similar to Dust2, the defense seemed vulnerable. electroNic was thriving with his palace sneak attacks, and once more, BIG managed only a round won with pistols. Quick assaults and bold play from syrsoN’s AWP gave BIG a slight advantage, ending the first half with four rounds in their favor.

In the heat of the battle, a crucial shot with a handgun could have tipped the scales in favor of the German team. However, Virtus.Pro skillfully seized the opportunity to extend their lead to an impressive 11-4. The map’s decisive point was teetering on the edge for Jame, but an extraordinary 1 versus 3 play by JDC kept his squad in the game. This remarkable display invigorated the Germans, who subsequently won six out of seven subsequent rounds on the offensive side. Regrettably, BIG were outmaneuvered by a strategic saved sniper shot from Jame. In the end, Virtus.Pro emerged victorious with a score of 13-10.

BIG outclass Virtus.Pro to eliminate them from Fall Groups – Ancient 13-7

tabseN and co. started Ancient off with a pistol round retake. Despite a knife kill from n0rb3r7 in the force-buy, BIG took an early lead. VP stole a couple of rounds, but BIG’s defense set up shop with syrsoN’s AWP and Krimbo’s MP9 finding round-winning plays. With the young duo of JDC and krimbo taking 26 frags between them, the half closed out with another 8-4 scoreline. This time, though, VP was unable to answer back as BIG accelerated to match point with solid IGLing. BIG won 5 out of the final 6 rounds to close out the series.

NaVi rematch up next for BIG at Fall Groups, Virtus.Pro drop to showdown

Following their surprising loss against Liquid, Navi finds themselves in the lower bracket. Tomorrow, they’ll go head-to-head with BIG once more, aiming for a spot in the Group Finals opposite Liquid. Their initial encounter didn’t go well for BIG, only managing 10 rounds across both maps. However, they seem more assured now, particularly on Dust2. While Aleksib and Blad3 will still call the shots strategically, BIG has a higher chance of being competitive in this rematch. We’ll see if they can pull off an upset tomorrow.
