Crimzo announces his retirement from competitive Overwatch 2

William “Crimzo” Hernandez, coach for ENCE, has decided to step down from competitive Overwatch 2. While he didn’t provide a detailed explanation, he expressed that it’s time for him to leave the game. With his long history as both a player and a coach, his decision marked the end of an exciting chapter in his career. It was a bittersweet moment, as we bid farewell to one who has contributed significantly to the world of competitive Overwatch 2.

Crimzo retires from competitive Overwatch 2

Crimzo’s professional journey began in 2018 when he joined the Kungarna team for their third lineup. Later, in 2019, he shifted to EnVision and Team Envy, where he significantly elevated his reputation. During this time with Team Envy, he was instrumental in securing both the Overwatch Contenders 2019 Season 1 and 2 North American titles. Additionally, they finished as runners-up in the Atlantic Showdown that same year, further enhancing Crimzo’s status.

Subsequently, he moved to the Overwatch League, shifting between different squads such as Dallas Fuel in 2020, Houston Outlaws in 2021, Boston Uprising in 2022, and others. Eventually, Crimzo wound up at O3 Splash, but his tenure was brief. The team fell apart just a month after recruiting him. However, the Canadian player didn’t lose hope, instead finding new opportunities.

He switched from being a player to a coach across different teams and ultimately joined ENCE under new management and responsibilities. With his leadership, ENCE achieved several high placements in the European league, including runner-up positions at the Overwatch Contenders Series EMEA Stage 1 and 2, as well as FACEIT League Season 1. However, despite ENCE’s outstanding performances, they experienced an early defeat against Crazy Raccoon during the Esports World Cup, resulting in a lower overall ranking.

Appears as if the last decisive blow was struck against Crimzo, leading him to announce his retirement on X shortly thereafter. While it’s sad to witness the departure of such an esteemed and recognized figure in gaming like Crimzo, his impact will endure.
