Hayley Palmer reveals she’s ‘finally ready to date again’ as she enjoys fun-filled night at the National Reality TV Awards where ex Mark Labbett was a no show despite The Chase being nominated

I’ve been grappling with vivid nightmares and sudden, unsettling memories for weeks now, ever since our relationship ended abruptly over a brief phone call from the quizzer, who is 59 years old. That conversation left me completely taken aback.
Hayley mentioned that while Mark had told her he was going through with the divorce from his ex-wife Katie, aged 32, whom he separated from in 2020 and shares a son with, he later confessed that he had reconsidered his decision.
Reflecting on my past experiences, I can say that betrayal has left a deep and lasting impact on me. The way someone I trusted violated that trust still echoes in my mind to this very day. This sense of deception and hurt has been so profound that it took me a long time to recognize it as trauma. It wasn’t until someone suggested that I was dealing with betrayal trauma that I began to understand the true extent of its effect on my life. Now, I am actively seeking counseling to help heal and move forward from this difficult chapter in my journey.
They asked, “Are you experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety?” I replied, “Indeed, yes, that’s been my experience.” I explained, “It’s just the jolt to the system when something like this happens unexpectedly.”
Mark and Hayley had shown numerous affectionate moments prior to their unexpected separation. For instance, they appeared enamored during an episode of Loose Women this year, discussing their first anniversary. Interestingly, Hayley mentioned that the breakup occurred suddenly.
She found her time with Mark to be the most joyful of all her relationships, but his last message to her left her feeling chilled or unsettled.
She said: ‘He called me and said, “How are you? Are you on GB News this Saturday?” I was like, “Yeah, I’m booked to go on, can’t wait”… I was telling him everything.
Later on, he admitted, “I must confess, it won’t be simple to share this, but I have to acknowledge that you were correct. I’m not eager for a divorce.”
After hanging up the phone, Hayley felt a shock that made her unable to sense her own body, leading to a severe bout of panic.
In contrast to previous relationships, this one took her unawares as she saw no red flags. The unexpected nature of its end has left her grappling with a diminished feeling about herself.
She proposed, “If only we could sit down and discuss honestly, ‘Here’s the reality. Can we find a way to make things work? Alright, let’s stand by each other. Let’s release a joint declaration.'”.

I was extremely exposed and defenseless. It would have been beneficial for us to discuss our approach to handling the media together. Leaving me alone, without any communication or support, was quite overwhelming.
Throughout the course of his involvement with Hayley, it’s important to note that Mark was legally wedded to Katie Labbett for a period of seven years beforehand.
From the very beginning, the divorce was a contentious issue between them, despite Mark’s repeated assertion that he was determined to proceed with it.
Hayley mentioned that she planned to wait about a year before bringing up the topic again since by then we should see some advancement. She believes that if he had clarified his reasons for not wanting a divorce, we could have found a solution in the meantime.
Following their separation in May, Mark openly discussed the reasons behind it, attributing the demise of their relationship to the significant age difference between them (16 years).

She said: ‘I don’t have anything bad to say about him personally. He wasn’t The Beast. He was like a kind, lovely gentleman to me, which makes it worse kind of. It’s just such a shame.
Each day, I’m making an effort to boost my spirits and focus on my personal development routines, helping me navigate through the challenges that come my way.
Occasionally, I find myself returning home and breaking down in tears. The longing for him is overwhelming. Yet, with every passing day, things seem to get a bit more bearable, and I am gradually growing stronger.
Overflowing with gratitude, I can’t help but express how fortunate I feel to have so many incredible individuals by my side. Truly, they’ve been my pillars of strength during trying times, and I am compelled to extend a helping hand to others who find themselves in the same situation as me.
However, Hayley emphasized that it’s unlikely she and Mark will reconcile, even though her feelings for him remain strong.
She said: ‘I’ve always seen the good in people. But equally, I don’t give second chances. So as soon as I heard those words from him, I would never forgive that because I’ve always been strong.’
As for dating others, Hayley mentioned that some quite attractive men have been reaching out to her via direct messages. When she’s prepared, keep an eye out: ‘This might be something to look forward to.’
She added: ‘I still have hope that there is someone out there for me. Maybe I’m deluded, but I do.’
