FBoy Island fans roast 'disappointing' cast ahead of season two premiere

As a devoted fan of reality dating shows and someone who has navigated their fair share of dating pools myself, I can confidently say that this new cast for Abbie Chatfield’s FBoy Island is nothing short of spectacular!

In the second season of Abbie Chatfield’s romantic reality series, a fresh lineup of attractive FBoys and genuine Nice Guys are competing for affection or a $50,000 prize.

Krystal Thomas, Ally Wood, and Nicole Miltrov have been assigned the role of exploring the dating scene to identify genuine suitors seeking love, versus those primarily interested in financial gain.

While many followers of the Binge series, who saw the unveiling of 21 eligible bachelors on their Instagram account on Wednesday, have expressed disappointment about the chosen cast members.

Detractors took to social media with their gripes ahead of the show’s premiere.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I found myself agreeing with one online commentator who penned, “The previous collection was remarkably superior,” while another echoed my thoughts by stating, “It seems everyone missed the mark this time around.”

‘Why are they all GRONKS this season?’ asked someone else.

‘Omg the girls are gonna be so disappointed,’ wrote another commenter.

The individuals attempting to catch their interest consist of Wes, a 28-year-old account manager, Dart, a 28-year-old music teacher, Lewis, a 30-year-old stand-up comedian, and Mitch, a 27-year-old stripper from Victoria.

In South Australia, we’ll have electrician Doug (age 25), basketball player Nuggett (age 30), youth worker Norman (age 34), and gym manager Paddy (age 32) representing our region.

In Western Australia, we have two single gentlemen – Sean, aged 23, who works in construction, and Timothy, a 32-year-old fashion enthusiast, who are the sole bachelors residing there.

As a devoted follower, I’m part of a dynamic group hailing from Queensland. Among us are Aaron, a former military officer at the age of 35, Jack, a 27-year-old real estate agent, and the versatile Joe, who transitioned from being a rigger to a model at 25.

As a devoted admirer, I must share that the majority of the charismatic participants in the forthcoming season are natives of New South Wales. Among them, there’s Jerome, a talented gardener at 28, the dynamic stuntman Eddy, who is only 31, and the energetic DJ Frank, just 25 years old.

The social media sensation Jake (age 31), popular influencer Jin (age 25), young model Joey (age 23), talented musician Minjarrah (age 30), and expat Vicente (age 27) will also join the dating show hailing from New South Wales.

Under the guidance of Abbie, aged 29, the second season will focus on the main characters as they strive to distinguish genuine suitors from those seeking only the monetary reward in a competition setting.

Throughout the series, Krystal (age 28), Ally (age 27), and Nicole (age 26) will eliminate the male contestants whom they suspect are participating solely for the chance to win the $50,000 reward.

In the ‘Celebration Grove of Kind Men,’ those who were voted out as Nice Guys will be honored for their dedication to love. On the other hand, those labeled as FBoys will face exile in the ‘Redemption Limbo’ to try and change their ways.

At the conclusion of the season, every lady finds herself left with only two potential partners to decide upon, unaware whether one is a genuine gentleman or a so-called FBoy.

Based on my personal experiences and observations, I’ve noticed that the choice a couple makes when playing a game can say a lot about their dynamic. If they opt for ‘The Nice Guy’, it signifies trust, fairness, and teamwork as they split the cash prize equally. However, if they choose ‘The FBoy’, it’s an indication of selfishness or deceit, leaving it up to him to decide whether he shares the money or keeps it all to himself, potentially causing disharmony in their relationship. In my opinion, going for ‘The Nice Guy’ is a wiser choice as it fosters unity and promotes goodwill between partners.

In the first season, the program garnered widespread acclaim, eventually earning a nomination for the category of Best Reality Show at the 2024 AACTA Awards.

FBoy season two will begin streaming on Binge on August 5.
