As a longtime Nintendo enthusiast and Lego collector, I must say that the upcoming Lego Super Mario & Yoshi set has piqued my interest significantly! Growing up with the classic Super Mario World on SNES, this set brings back nostalgic memories of countless hours spent traversing Dinosaur Land.

As the Lego Super Mario game-based line keeps growing with intricate playsets, classic Lego sets based on the character of Mario are relatively scarce. Yet, a fresh set showcasing Mario donning a cape atop his steadfast companion Yoshi is due to be added to the Lego Super Mario collection on October 1st. The Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi set, priced at $129.99, may not be as captivating as the Lego Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block or as legendary as the Lego Nintendo Entertainment System, but it does offer some enjoyable elements and surprises.

Typically, only Lego’s online platform offers pre-orders for newly released Lego sets. However, you have the option to reserve this 1,215-piece set at Target before its October 1st release date as well.

In this 2D design reminiscent of the 16-bit originals from “Super Mario World” on the SNES, both Mario and Yoshi are featured. The base comes equipped with a crank that sets Yoshi’s limbs in motion, while a dial behind his head controls his mouth and tongue. Similar to other Lego sets like Super Mario 64’s Question Block and The Mighty Bowser, the Lego Super Mario & Yoshi set includes an action tag. This tag triggers distinct responses when combined with Lego figures of Mario, Luigi, or Peach.
