Skeleton Crew gets an official release date with Nick Frost joining the cast!
As a longtime Star Wars enthusiast who’s been following this franchise since the original trilogy, I must say that the recent updates about Skeleton Crew have got me more than excited! The addition of Nick Frost to the cast is a stroke of genius, and his role as SM 33 sounds like a perfect fit.
As an eager fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the upcoming Star Wars series, “Skeleton Crew”! In a recent chat with People Magazine, Jude Law has spilled some major updates about this highly-anticipated Mandoverse show. Not only do we have a new cast member joining us, but we also now know the release date – December 3, right here on Disney+. Can’t wait!
Actor Nick Frost, known for his roles in The Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, has been added to the cast, lending his voice to a character named SM 33 – a droid. Law, the filmmaker, provided some insights about Frost’s role, expressing that the droid is “flawlessly ideal.”
He’s like a rusty old, cranky droid that sort of reluctantly helps the kids along the way. The other thing about him is that he’s the first mate of a mysterious ship.
Despite nearly securing a part in a Star Wars film, specifically The Force Awakens, Frost ultimately declined the offer. In an interview with Celebrity Catch Up: Life After That Thing I Did podcast, as reported by Gamerant, Frost shared his reasoning for turning down the role, stating that it was only a minor part and the pay was poor given his family obligations – he doesn’t work for free. Instead, Frost seemed more interested in Skeleton Crew, which appears to be a larger role within the series.
“Skeleton Crew” chronicles the adventure of a band of children who find themselves adrift amidst the cosmos. Together with Law, an enigmatic Force-wielder, they embark on a quest to return home. It’s been announced that this show shares continuity with “The Mandalorian,” though the specifics of their connection and the series’ setting within the Mandoverse remain unclear at present. What we do know is that the pirate Vane, portrayed by Marti Matulis, from “The Mandalorian” Season 3, will appear in this series as well.
Skeleton Crew arrives on Disney+ on December 3.
