As a dedicated follower and supporter of women empowerment, I admire Fleur East for her courage and unapologetic approach to breastfeeding her child in public during World Breastfeeding Week. Her decision to share these intimate moments not only highlights the natural beauty of motherhood but also challenges societal norms that often shame women for performing such a nurturing act in public spaces.

During World Breastfeeding Week (starting this Thursday), Fleur East posted photos of herself nursing her four-month-old daughter Nova while riding the subway as a tribute to breastfeeding awareness.

On Wednesday, the second-place finisher of The X Factor, aged 36, exuded beauty while holding Nova and simultaneously employing an electronic breast pump from Elvie, clad in a stylish khaki linen shirt ensemble.

Flour was accompanied by a group of ladies on the subway, who sat next to her and were likewise nursing their infants while wearing “#FreeTheFeed” pins.

The firstborn child, Nova, is lovingly shared by her mother with her spouse, Marcel Badiane-Robin – a renowned French fashion designer.

Marcel is also a celebrity stylist and has worked with the likes of Rita Ora and Jason Derulo.

They received an invitation from the FemTech company Elvie, for the tube event, which is part of Elvie’s ongoing #FreeTheFeed campaign.

#JoinUsInSupport: Let’s rally together for all women who have experienced shame or restriction while nursing or expressing milk, using the hashtag #EmpoweredNursing.

In March, Elvie initiated their campaign by setting up five large inflatable balloons as a tribute for Mother’s Day, spread throughout London.

Three weeks post Nova’s arrival, I shared that I had chosen to return to my job, explaining that I felt incredibly empowered by this decision.

At the time when I was still pregnant, I got a booking for a performance at an event, as shared by Fleur on Instagram.

There was a close call about whether I would proceed since it was imminent after I had given birth.

However, three weeks post-Nova’s birth, I chose this weekend to return to the stage and test the waters. Admittedly, I felt apprehensive about being away from our baby girl for a while, and my body certainly doesn’t feel as it used to, but surprisingly, I found myself brimming with energy.

It was fantastic to share the stage with these remarkable women, whose energy was uplifting and supportive. I was able to express myself freely – dancing, singing, and doing what I adore – before returning to the one dear to me with all my affection.

“I’ve had many conversations with you on my stories regarding mom guilt and anxiety, and it’s comforting to realize we aren’t the only ones going through this. We all encounter it in varying degrees. I’ve been told that it gets easier over time, and a contented mother typically means a contented baby.”

In the whirlwind of 2022, I found myself gracing the dance floor as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, partnering with none other than the talented Vito Coppola. Together, we danced our hearts out, and though we didn’t quite take the top spot, we made it all the way to second place – a feat I’m incredibly proud of!

She hasn’t made any comments regarding the recent scandals that the BBC dance competition is facing at present.
