As a seasoned food enthusiast and long-time viewer of cooking shows, I must say that this year’s Cooking with the Stars has certainly piqued my interest! The combination of celebrities and Michelin star chefs is always a recipe for entertaining television, and I couldn’t wait to see how it would unfold.

On Tuesday, the highly anticipated celebrity cooking competition made its comeback, boasting an all-new cast of famous faces – but viewers of ITV found themselves with an unpleasant aftertaste instead.

In “Cooking With The Stars,” renowned personalities team up with skilled culinary pros for guidance, aiming to turn their initial cooking skills from beginner to advanced levels within just a few short weeks.

2024’s star-studded lineup will see me swooning over Abbey Clancy, captivated by Carol Vorderman’s wisdom, and chuckling at every witty remark from Katherine Ryan! It’s a dream come true that Emma Willis and Tom Allen are back to keep the energy high as our beloved hosts, guiding us through all the excitement!

Regrettably, many viewers seemed to lose interest within the first five minutes of the new season, harshly criticizing the premiere as “awful,” and highlighting an error in the kitchen setup that left them feeling nauseated.

In the very first installment, I found myself teamed up with my professional partner, ready to compete against Carol, Abbey, Pasha Kovalev, and Harry Pinero in a culinary battle, striving to advance to the next phase.

Viewers on ITV quickly expressed their displeasure towards the fourth season, finding it dull, as they took to writing criticisms fiercely online.

‘Never watched this before #CookingWithTheStars. Won’t be watching it again! Who dreams up these beyond boring programs with Z list ‘celebrities’ !! So so bad.’

‘Content creator isn’t a celebrity. #CookingWithTheStars.’

‘5 minutes was enough. It’s terrible #CookingWithTheStars.’

“I’m unsure about my reasons for tuning in, since a few celebrities and chefs on this show grate on my nerves #CookingWithTheStars.”

‘How the heck did this rubbish manage to get another series?’

‘All the whooping and cheering is getting on my nerves #CookingWithTheStars.’

Simultaneously, some people raised concerns about cleanliness in the kitchen, particularly noting that two women didn’t tie back their hair while cooking.

In this scenario, Carol, aged 63, teamed up with Tony Singh, a restaurateur from Scotland. Together, they prepared salmon coulibiac, which is salmon wrapped in puff pastry and served with a Champagne reduction. Simultaneously, Abbey, who is 38 years old, was cooking an upscale steak and chips while working alongside Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines.

In contrast, neither competitor chose to pull back their hair while they became engrossed in kitchen tasks. This led to a flurry of criticisms from viewers on the internet.

‘For Pete’s sake, tie your hair back #Cookingwiththestars #TeamPasha.’

“Is it just me, or does it seem odd to you that the celebrities on #Cookingwiththestars don’t tie their hair back? It makes me imagine a pot filled with loose strands of hair. #Cookingwiththestars #ITV.”

‘It bothers me! Disgusting.’

‘It definitely bothers me.’

“I previously posted something like this, but it didn’t sit well with me, not even my mentor. The messy appearance, especially the flying hair strands everywhere, was a turn-off. I was hoping that one of the judges might discover some hidden ingredient in the dish.”

In spite of the criticism, some enthusiasts of the cooking show demonstrated their enthusiasm about its comeback, expressing it through their writings.

‘Loved the first #Cookingwiththestars well done @OfficialClancy.’

‘Carol is fabulous as always #CookingWithTheStars.’

‘#CookingWithTheStars I’m hungry watching this. I’m off to M&S tomorrow. Looks lovely.’

‘They get some really good stars on this! #CookingWithTheStars.’

Cooking With The Stars returns for another episode on Tuesday, 8pm, ITV1
