As a dedicated follower of Maren Morris’ career and personal journey, I must say that her upcoming EP, Intermission, is a testament to her resilience and courage. After going through a tumultuous period in her personal life, including a divorce and coming out as bisexual, she has found the strength to pour her heart and soul into this new project.

Maren Morris spoke out about her new EP called Intermission, which is set to be released on Friday.

34-year-old musician shared a video on Instagram discussing her forthcoming album, hinting that it marks a fresh start in her personal journey.

In October 2023, Maren parted ways with her spouse, Ryan Hurd. Their divorce was officially completed in January 2024. They share a four-year-old son named Hayes.

In her Instagram post, she mentioned that this new album differs because she no longer needs to shield anyone, which seems to suggest a reference to her former partner.

About a month ago, Maren publicly identified herself as bisexual on her Instagram account, posting ‘Proud to represent the B in LGBTQ+’, during the celebration of Pride Month.

As I stand proudly amidst the vibrant energy of Phoenix, during my RSVP Redux tour, I couldn’t help but capture and share moments that truly resonate with me. Waving those beautiful Pride flags high, I felt a sense of unity and celebration that is undeniably powerful. Here’s to Pride, a time when we all come together to honor love in its most diverse and beautiful forms. #HappyPride

By September 2023, Maren had disclosed her intention to temporarily step away from the world of country music.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I made it clear last November in my sit-down with Variety Magazine that I am not planning to venture into the realm of pop music.

She informed the media outlet that she has no plans to leave Nashville, as she cherishes her life there and doesn’t view herself as a transplant of country music.

“She mentioned how there are countless inspiring individuals creating meaningful music within this community. She feels deeply connected to this place and aspires to improve it just as she longs for positive changes within the music industry,” (paraphrased)

On Monday, Maren made a direct statement into the phone during the video: ‘Choosing the title “Intermission” for this project was deliberate. It’s clearly a line from the ending of the song Cut!’.

Adding: ‘But it’s also meaning that there’s more to come.’

Maren’s song Cut! features fellow singer Julia Michaels.

Maren went on to say, “This is a pause in the story, and for me, it feels like a significant transition – a new act and a fresh chapter in my life. I can’t wait to turn the page and discover what lies ahead.”

As a passionate devotee, I can hardly contain my pride for the music I’ve recently created. Crafting it was no simple task given the challenges I’ve been facing, but it serves as a poignant journal of my journey.

As a musician who has spent years crafting my sound and navigating the complexities of the industry, I can wholeheartedly say that the music I create now is unlike anything I’ve ever made before. It’s a deeply personal and emotional journey for me because I’ve finally reached a point where I can let down my guard and explore the full range of my feelings without worrying about anyone else. This newfound freedom has allowed me to tap into the most heart-wrenching and exhilarating aspects of music, creating pieces that are at once fun and deeply moving. And as someone who’s been through their fair share of ups and downs in this business, I can only hope that my listeners will find as much joy and healing in my music as I have while making it.

Maren’s album Intermission will be released on Friday, August 2.

Eight months have passed since her divorce from Ryan Hurd, whom she had been married to for five years, and now she has a brand-new album out.

She filed for divorce in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple wed in 2018.

They share son Hayes, four.
