Exclusive clip: The Time Bandits become dragonslayers in “Medieval”

As a history enthusiast and self-proclaimed time-traveling aficionado, I must say that “Time Bandits” has been a delightful journey so far! The combination of humor, adventure, and a dash of historical accuracy is simply enchanting. The third episode, set in medieval times, was a standout for me – the dragonslayer trope never gets old!

Produced by the comedy trio consisting of Taika Waititi, Iain Morris, and Jemaine Clement, the series Time Bandits made its debut to positive critiques on Apple TV+. This show is a spin-off from the 1981 film directed by Terry Gilliam and revolves around Kevin (Kal-El Tuck), an 11-year-old history enthusiast from a quaint English town. On a fateful night, his room gets infiltrated by a motley crew of time-traveling thieves, led by Penelope (Lisa Kudrow), who enter through portals that transport them across various historical eras. Driven by his desire to experience authentic history and later saving his parents and the world from Pure Evil, Kevin embarks on unforgettable escapades alongside the bandits.

In Episode 3, the marauders fall into a period of the Middle Ages, finding themselves near a fortress enduring tough times. There, Kevin, having swiped a dinosaur skull, is mistakenly acclaimed as a dragon slayer. It’s an amusing episode and one of the top picks from this season. For those eager souls who can’t bear the wait, here’s an exclusive preview for your enjoyment. Take a look:

Season 1 of “Time Bandits” consists of ten episodes, with two fresh installments being released every week on Apple TV+. The season finale is scheduled for August 21st. At this point, Apple has yet to announce a renewal for more seasons, but co-creator Jemaine Clement hinted that the team is already busy drafting scripts for season 2.

He shared with ComicBook that we’re currently working on a second season, but its release hinges on the success of the first season. If viewers don’t watch the first season, we might discard it, as if tossing it into a trash bin. However, I can’t reveal this information to avoid spoiling the second season.

Time Bandits Episode 3, “Medieval,” premieres Wednesday, July 31 on AppleTV+.
