Elizabeth Banks recalls terrifying moment when she nearly DIED choking on a pea while on movie set
As a lifestyle expert, I cannot help but empathize with Elizabeth Banks’ terrifying experience of choking on a pea while alone on set. It’s a reminder that even the most mundane moments can turn into life-threatening situations in an instant. I’m glad she was saved by a quick-thinking staff member, and I hope her harrowing encounter serves as a reminder to us all to learn the Heimlich maneuver and be prepared for emergencies.
Elizabeth Banks recently shared a harrowing experience where, all by herself in her movie set trailer, she got stuck choking on a pea and struggled to breathe.
Fifty-year-old actress from The Hunger Games sat alone for a meal during a brief pause in her work on the thriller film titled Skincare.
Yet, events took a sudden and serious turn as she started choking on a green pea and found herself without anyone nearby to offer assistance.
During Tuesday’s Good Morning America interview, the actress shared an unexpected and alarming experience: “For the first time in my life, I encountered a choking episode while eating lunch. It was just a small green pea that got stuck.”
1. ‘I found myself all by myself in my mobile home. I flung the door wide. Had to keep quiet. The fear was palpable; it was truly petrifying.’
Luckily, a member of staff happened to be walking by and had knowledge of what to do in the moment.
Banks added: “I noticed someone asking if I was choking. I signaled my affirmation. He approached me in a composed manner.”
I’ve had a close call today that left me feeling both shaken and grateful. As I was backing out of a tight parking spot, I didn’t see a man standing behind my car. In an instant, our bodies collided, and I felt a hand grab me from behind and perform the Heimlich maneuver. At first, I was startled and confused, but then I realized that this kind stranger had saved me from choking. His name is Julius, and I will never forget his selfless act of kindness. In that moment, Julius became my guardian angel. Julius, I owe you my deepest gratitude, and I wish you a long and happy life.
The actress expressed: “He literally saved my life on set, and since then, I’ve made it a point to use every occasion to remind people about learning the Heimlich maneuver.”
1. She strongly advised viewers: “Ensure you’re well-versed in the process. There are countless videos available demonstrating how it’s done. It’s surprisingly simple. Many people worry, ‘I might break a rib or cause harm.’ They’re mistaken! Go ahead and perform the action if necessary.” (Note: The original text may not be suitable as it suggests causing physical harm to oneself or others, which is dangerous and against safety guidelines.)
‘I would have been fine with a cracked rib. I literally couldn’t breathe. It was super scary.’
1. In the upcoming movie titled “Skincare,” featuring our star, the plot draws loosely on the life of renowned celebrity facialist Dawn DaLuise, who found herself embroiled in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme targeting a competing beauty expert.
As an ardent admirer, let me share the captivating narrative I recently encountered. The story revolves around a fictional skincare maestro, me – or rather, Hope. Brimming with enthusiasm for my upcoming line of cosmetics, I was about to make my grand entrance into the world of beauty when fate, in its ironic twist, decided to challenge me. Across from my cherished store, a new boutique sprang up, belonging to none other than Angel Vergara (Luis Gerardo Méndez), a rival facialist.
1) Following a string of progressively unsettling occurrences, Hope starts to harbor doubts that someone might be intentionally undermining her. Alongside her fresh acquaintance Jordan (Lewis Pullman), she embarks on an exhilarating journey to uncover the mystery behind the attempts to wreck her personal life and professional success.
Meanwhile, Banks is actively marketing the sixth season of her ABC’s game show comeback, titled Press Your Luck.
Simultaneously, the actress is shooting the psychological thriller “DreamQuil” in Los Angeles alongside John C. Reilly.
In a heart-pounding twist of fate, I find myself starring opposite Matthew Macfadyen in the forthcoming Peacock romantic dramedy, The Miniature Wife – a role that feels tailor-made for me!
Furthermore, Banks and her husband Max Handelman are creating a new version of the 1985 film “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” under their production company, Brownstone Productions.
The Pitch Perfect star tied the knot with Handelman, 51, in 2003, and they share two sons.
Previously, banks criticized Hollywood for labeling Charlies’ Angels (2019), a feature adaptation directed by Charlize Theron, as a “feminist manifesto” despite her original intention of just creating an action film.
She expressed her desire to helm Mission: Impossible to The New York Times in 2022, but unfortunately, women weren’t selected to direct the franchise at that time.
In Hollywood, being a female director gives me an opportunity to direct action movies – something I’ve successfully done. This is largely due to the current trend of casting women in leading roles for such films.
