The movie “Baby Reindeer” is inspired by Gadd’s true-life encounters and centers around the story of Donny Dunn, played by Gadd, who finds himself being pursued persistently by Martha, portrayed by Jessica Gunning.
In an interview with Digital Spy and other media outlets, Mau shared that when she read the script for Teri’s character, who develops a romantic connection with Donny, she sensed that “Richard deeply cared for her” – regardless of who may have served as inspiration.
1. “It appeared to me that the story was drawn from real-life experiences, and I felt strongly about conveying this truth to the audience: trans women are very much a part of our society and have genuine relationships with others. When reading Richard’s work, I could sense his sincerity, and I wish for others to also perceive it.”
