Love Island fans rage Ciaran and Nicole 'were robbed' of the £50k prize as 'loyal and deserving' couple were snubbed in jaw-dropping finale

As a Black woman who has grown up watching Love Island and never seeing a couple like Mimii and Josh win, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of joy and pride. Having followed the show for years and seeing so few Black couples make it to the final, let alone win, this is truly a historic moment that feels both surreal and long overdue.

Love Island enthusiasts assert that Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies were unfairly denied the £50,000 prize during Monday’s live finale, as Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan emerged victorious instead.

The faithful and worthy pair, who were the sole ones to make their relationship official within the villa, have consistently grown stronger since the initial episodes of the series.

Mimii and Josh were declared victors, marking them as the initial black pair to triumph since the revival of the program in 2015.

1. I was among those left feeling frustrated about the outcome, and I can’t help but agree that Mimii and Josh may have been a bit green for such a victory.

In the comments about X, it was expressed that Ciaran and Nicole seemed to have been unfairly denied a victory. They truly deserved it based on their connection. Mimi and Josh are not disliked in any way, but they’ve spent very little time together as a couple, making their win questionable. #LoveIsland.

As a lifestyle guide, I must share an intriguing twist from the beloved show #loveIsland. The public favored Mimi and Josh as winners, yet it’s worth mentioning that just a week prior, Mimi was considering parting ways with Josh for Ayo. Interestingly, Ciaran and Nicole are genuinely smitten, but let’s not forget, Love Island isn’t about the romantic realities we might expect in everyday life.

If you’re not voting for Nicole and Ciaran, it could be due to your fondness for one of them personally. Yet, they emerged as winners during Week 1 in Love Island!

‘No chemistry. Sympathy vote. Worst winners. Should have been Nicole & Ciaran!’,

‘Ciaran and Nicole were ROBBEDDDDD #LoveIsland’,

As someone who has followed this competition closely since its beginning, I have to admit that Ciaran and Nicole may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they truly deserve to win the final. Their journey from the start was clear, and their determination to succeed in the face of adversity is commendable. They’ve shown resilience, creativity, and a genuine passion for their craft that sets them apart from the rest of the competitors. I may not always agree with their choices or find their personalities endearing, but their talent speaks for itself, and they have earned this win fair and square.

As someone who has been through my fair share of heartaches and unrequited love, I can empathize with Mimii’s situation a week ago when she was still hung up on Ayo’s antics on the terrace. But now, seeing her fresh connection with Josh, it seems like they are destined to be together. However, I can’t help but wonder if their relationship is too new and untested to deserve the title of winners just yet. Time will tell if their bond is strong enough to weather any storms that may come their way.

As an obsessed Love Island fan, I was utterly disappointed and infuriated when unexpected technical difficulties prevented me from casting my vote during the highly anticipated finale on Monday night.

1. In discussions with X, it was noted that some viewers encountered issues with the show’s official voting app, as it failed to function properly for them. Additionally, it was lamented by others that the app wasn’t accessible in their respective countries.

Writing: ‘@Loveisland unable to vote through app???’: ‘Who knows how to vote on the app if it’s not available in your country? I see loads of people wanting to vote of #jomii but they can’t’: ‘so sorry guys… I tried voting but couldn’t coz Love Island app isn’t in my region’.

“@ITVXhelp: We’re having trouble using your app to vote for Love Island, it keeps malfunctioning.” Alternatively, “The ITVXapp isn’t cooperating for us to cast our votes during the Love Island finale.”

Mimii and Josh faced off against Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies, Matilda Draper and Sean Stone, as well as Jessica Spencer and Ayo Odukoya, in the final round.

In the reality show competition, Jessica and Ayo came in fourth, while Matilda and Sean earned the third place award.

1. Following the announcement of the news, numerous viewers expressed their joy over Mimii and Josh’s historic victory on X by saying, “I’ll be celebrating Mimii and Josh’s win all weekend”; it is worth noting that Mimii and Josh are the first black couple to ever win Love Island UK.

“Historically, Mimii and Josh are the first black couple to reach the finale and win on Love Island UK. What a wonderful achievement!”

As a Black woman who grew up watching Love Island UK, I never thought I would witness the day when a black couple would win the show. It feels surreal and incredibly exciting to finally see representation that reflects my own experiences and identity. Mimi and Josh deserve this victory, not just for their charming personalities and strong connection, but also as a symbol of progress and inclusivity in British television. This is a momentous step forward in breaking down barriers and paving the way for more diverse representation on our screens. #representationmatters

24-year-old mental health nurse Mimii found herself overcome with emotion and shedding tears. Meanwhile, 29-year-old model Josh expressed gratitude to the group, saying, “Thank you all, we appreciate you!”

I’ve been completely drawn to Mimii ever since I arrived at the villa. When I first met her, I was taken aback – she exceeded all my expectations. As a result, I didn’t feel the need to forge any other meaningful relationships. I told Maya this truthfully.

Prior to being declared victors, the last two pairs received heartfelt video messages expressing encouragement from their loved ones at home.

Since his arrival as a newcomer in the series, Mimii has been in a relationship with Josh, following her previous connection with Ayo.

1. During the twist at Casa Amor, Mimii formed a partnership with Ayo and remained faithful to him even though the men and women were separated and placed in different villas.

When Jessica arrived, Ayo looked over in her direction and in the end chose to form a new partnership with her, whereas Mimii came back to the house unattached.

I was absolutely certain that Mimii and Ayo’s past romantic connection would be rekindled, but alas, it seemed destined to remain just a fond memory. Despite my fervent hope and Mimii’s covert attempts to lure Ayo to the terrace for a heart-to-heart conversation, their relationship remained unrevived.

Mimii and Ayo chose to move on from their previous short-lived relationship and focused instead on building new connections with Josh and Jessica.

In the series finale, the remaining four pairs expressed their heartfelt sentiments to one another under the moonlit garden before departing from the villa.

In her talk, Mimii confided in Josh by expressing: “You are considerate, compassionate, soft-spoken, and affectionate. I appreciate your demonstration of traits I believed to be impractical or unattainable in today’s world.”

As we shared a heartfelt hug, I found the words I’ve been longing to express, Mimii. Remember when you mentioned nobody had penned a poem for you? Well, I made a promise to change that, so here’s hoping this verse resonates with you.

1. As Mimii dabbed her eyes, spectators too felt a lump in their throats during the touching interaction they witnessed.

1. The original statement: ‘I believe the only genuine ones are Mimii and Josh to be honest.’

As a lifestyle expert, I can relate when I find myself tearing up during heartfelt speeches like Josh’s. For me, and many others, words of affirmation hold significant value as an expression of love. So, when Mimii delivered her moving speech, not only was she touching the hearts of those present, but she was also adding life to Josh in a beautiful way. Their connection is truly adorable.

“After that poem, I must admit they won my favor – Mimii and Josh.” (or) “Mimii and Josh have captured my admiration following that poem.”
