Channel 7 teases first look at new My Kitchen Rules series with duo of besties dubbed the 'Young Italians'

As a dedicated follower of cooking competitions, I have seen my fair share of teams vying for culinary glory on various shows. However, the dynamic duo of Simone and Viviana, the Italian-Australian home cooks competing on My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2024 season, has caught my attention from the very first glimpse.

2024 season sneak peek for enthusiastic food lovers from the creators of the long-lasting Channel 7 reality series, My Kitchen Rules.

The fourteeninstallment of the cooking show is coming out soon, and the initial group of home chefs competing for victory in the kitchen has been announced.

According to a statement, Simone and Viviana, cherished friends, are predicted to infuse the kitchen with enthusiasm, style, and pizzazz.

As an Italo-Australian living in sunny Queensland, I proudly team up with my partner to bring a unique blend of Italian style, elegance, and contemporary flair to the Australian lifestyle.

Simone sees himself as a creative chef, who breathes life into traditional dishes by adding his unique twists.

Just like Viviana is eager to share some traditional dishes from her native land on Australian television.

She revealed that the first dish she ever prepared was ‘gnocchi alla romana with my grandma.’

As a die-hard pasta enthusiast who can’t imagine life without it, I draw the line firmly at pineapple on pizza! Despite my deep love for both, there’s just something about that sweet and savory combination that doesn’t sit right with me.

The first photos shared of the culinary besties show a very fashion forward duo.

Images used for promotion feature Simone dressed in burgundy trousers and a blouse in a soft pink hue with her sleeves neatly rolled up.

Meanwhile, Viviana donned a fitted, long-sleeved floral blouse that accentuated her figure, and a mini skirt in a rich brown leather, revealing a few intricate tattoos on her thighs.

In another promotional photo, they exuded a charming, carefree atmosphere reminiscent of “La Dolce Vita,” as they joyfully navigated a vibrant red Vespa scooter together.

2023 September marks the debut of the 13th season of our cooking competition. However, it only attracted 470,000 viewers among the major capital cities.

MKR failed to make it into the top ten most-watched shows during last night’s broadcast, which is significantly less than the viewership of over a million per episode it once attracted a decade ago.

MKR returned to Channel Seven in 2022, two years after it was axed.

Debuting to just 500,000 viewers, the show has continued to shed fans in the metro centres.

Channel Seven axed My Kitchen Rules: The Rivals from Sunday night’s programming back in 2020.

The cooking show that was having a hard time attracting viewers was taken off the air and replaced with a documentary about koalas being rescued during the recent bushfires. This documentary was quickly produced and swiftly broadcasted.

On Sundays, it was challenging for MKR to hold its ground against shows like Married at First Sight, Dancing with the Stars, and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in terms of viewership.

2020 saw the show’s ratings reaching an all-time low, prompting Seven executives to strongly consider cancelling it due to its unsustainable state.

According to a source, the magazine learned that ‘MKR may no longer be secure. Certain influential figures are reportedly working towards permanently canceling the show.’

However, it returned in 2022, but has continued to struggle in the ratings.
