A new mobile game based on the popular anime Haikyu!! has been announced! Called Haikyu!! ALL Challengers, it will bring volleyball gameplay to smartphones. Pre-registration is currently available in Japan. The game is being developed by TOHO Games and TOHO Animation, the same companies producing the upcoming Haikyu!! special and movie.

There isn’t much information available about the game yet, and we haven’t seen a lot of gameplay footage. However, here’s everything I’ve gathered so far. The developers describe it as a complete training simulation, according to translations.

In Haikyu!! ALL Challengers, the main focus is on helping your players grow and building a strong team. You’ll do this by training characters like Shoyo Hinata, choosing which skills to improve, and creating training schedules.

The game appears to cycle between training simulations and actual matches, and gameplay will be presented in a portrait orientation, judging by the trailer. A significant highlight is the animation style, which closely resembles the anime it’s based on – a benefit of being developed by the same studio.

The game will have a beautiful anime-inspired look, with all the characters and scenes created using hand-drawn 2D animation. Plus, the developers have recorded new voice lines, which will make the characters feel even more real. As a fan, I’m especially excited to see how they portray characters like Tobio Kageyama, Kei Tsukishima, and Nishinoya.
