Deadpool & Wolverine: Who is Lady Deadpool?

As a huge fan of the Deadpool universe and someone who has followed the character’s development in the comics for years, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie. The thought of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman teaming up once again on the big screen was already enough to get me hyped, but the promise of impressive cameos and wild turns only added to my anticipation.

The freshly released movie featuring Deadpool and Wolverine is now playing in cinemas, boasting numerous noteworthy appearances and unexpected twists. This action-packed adventure finally reveals the identity of Lady Deadpool as well.

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine

In this fresh take on “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the notorious “Merc With a Mouth” as Wade Wilson. However, Wade has decided to retire from his mercenary ways. Yet, he is dragged into chaos once more, this time by the Time Variance Authority introduced in “Loki.” They alarmingly inform him that his reality is at risk and those dear to him are in danger. Consequently, he embarks on a mission to enlist an alternate version of Wolverine, portrayed again by Hugh Jackman. Their goal: confront the malevolent Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).

In this film, you’ll find some unexpected appearances by different Marvel characters and multiple versions of Deadpool. Fans are particularly thrilled about the emergence of Lady Deadpool.

Who is Lady Deadpool in the comics?

In the comic book universe of Marvel, Deadpool frequently encounters different versions of himself from various realities. One notable instance occurred in the 2010 “Deadpool Corps” event where Wade came across a group of alternates, including a young one, a zombie, and even a canine version.

In an alternate reality, Lady Deadpool, or Wanda Wilson from Earth-3010, exhibits similarities to the infamous Deadpool. However, this version resides in a world dominated by an evil iteration of Captain America, known as General America. Unlike her counterpart, Lady Deadpool is more inclined to spend time indoors and harbors an unusual obsession with a specific actor. She retains the remarkable ability to heal supernaturally and excels in weapon proficiency, all while maintaining a precarious balance on the edge of insanity.

The character made a few cameos in the story before it seemed she had made the ultimate sacrifice. However, keep in mind that we’re dealing with comics here, so there’s a strong chance she’ll find a way to come back.

Who plays Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Fans were intrigued as soon as they saw Lady Deadpool in the trailer, and many began to guess who might be portraying her. Surprisingly, Taylor Swift was a strong contender, with Ryan Reynolds even playfully hinting at it. Other suggestions included Anna Faris, Margot Robbie, and Amanda Seyfried.

As a longtime fan of both Marvel movies and Blake Lively’s acting skills, I have to say that her casting as Lady Deadpool in the latest Marvel production is an exciting development for me. With her distinctive voice and captivating presence on screen, it’s no surprise that she was the most obvious choice for this role, even if her face remains hidden from viewers. Having grown up watching Blake shine in various films and TV shows, I’m thrilled to see her taking on such an iconic character. Her ability to bring depth and nuance to any role makes me confident that Lady Deadpool will be a memorable addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I can hardly wait for the movie’s release!

The actress is most recognized for portraying Serena van der Woodsen on “Gossip Girl” and movies like “The Shallows.” With Reynolds as her husband in real life, their shared history includes co-starring in “Green Lantern” (2011). Moreover, she playfully hinted at making an appearance in that film.

Deadpool and Wolverine’s film features numerous exciting appearances, each adding to the unpredictable journey that honors the cameo effectively.

Deadpool & Wolverine now in theaters.
