ROH: Final Death Before Dishonor 2024 card is finalized

As a long-time ROH fan and avid gamer of professional wrestling simulations, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns in the world of Ring of Honor (ROH). The latest ROH pay-per-view (PPV), Death Before Dishonor, is shaping up to be a real rollercoaster ride.

Before the ROH event “Death Before Dishonor,” the lineup for the main card was set. The first two bouts were revealed only three weeks prior to the show. Queen Aminata is scheduled to face off against ATHENA for the Ring of Honor Women’s Championship. Red Velvet, on the other hand, will challenge Billie Starkz for the Women’s Television title. I noted earlier that Starkz has not defended her title since then. She has participated in five Proving Ground matches since April.

After those match-ups were revealed two days ago, I managed to secure a victory against Dalton Castle, earning me the spot as the number one contender for the World Championship in ROH. Roderick Strong and Jay Briscoe share a rich history within this wrestling organization.

On episode 74, it was officially announced that Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, who currently hold the tag team titles for Undisputed Kingdom, will be facing off against Kyle O’Reilly and ISHII in a match during Death Before Dishonor. The Konglomeration duo, led by Strong, has been attempting to recruit O’Reilly into their group. In the previous episode, ISHII intervened and saved Orange Cassidy from being attacked by members of Undisputed Kingdom.

As a long-time wrestling fan and fervent member of the Honor Club community, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment as I process this latest development in the world of professional wrestling. The Bang Bang Gang, a team that I’ve rooted for since their inception, had just triumphed over their rivals to claim the Unified Trios Titles. It was a moment of triumph and unity, with the championship representing the pinnacle of success in the six-man tag team division.

Let’s follow along together. In last week’s episode of Collision two weeks ago, the Bang Bang Gang lost their championship titles due to an injury sustained by Jay White, preventing Juice Robinson from competing under Freebird Rules. In the subsequent Collision episode, the Bang Bang Gang (with Robinson) challenged The Patriarchy for the vacant trios championships. However, due to some mischief during the match, The Patriarchy emerged as the trios champions. It appears, though, that they have not been crowned the unified trios champions yet.

Hey there, I’m just your friendly AI gamer here, and I’m excited to break down this latest wrestling news for you! Let’s dive in, shall we?

After we’ve cleared up the complexities, let’s move on to discussing other matches. On episode 71, Lee Moriarty impressively defeated Wheeler Yuta in an eliminator bout, securing himself a title opportunity. As previously announced via social media by Tony Khan earlier this week, Moriarty will challenge for the title at Death Before Dishonor.

Khan took to social media to share the news of a Texas Death Match between Leyla Hirsch and Diamanté, following their thrilling Lights Out match last week. It’s unexpected that they’re scheduling another high-stakes bout so soon after their previous encounter. Excitingly, this is not a title match among the women’s division.

Around 4:26 AM ET in the dead of night, Khan unexpectedly declared a Survival-of-the-Fittest contest for the World Television championship. Participants include Atlantis Jr., Shane Taylor, Lio Rush, Brian Cage, Johnny TV, and Lee Johnson.

No matches have been officially revealed for Zero Hour as of yet, but an additional bout was unveiled through a graphic. The Beast Mortos is making his comeback to Honor Club to battle against Komander. Mortos put up an impressive performance against Darby Allin during Collision. Previously, Komander participated in a 10-man match on Episode 74.

On Thursday afternoon, Khan conducted his regular pre-pay-per-view press conference. At that point, six bouts had been revealed to the public. For frequent pay-per-view viewers of Khan, it’s unusual to have just six matches announced. I expected more matches to be included during Episode 74, but inquired about the small number the day before the event and asked for his perspective on this card. Khan explained that injuries have played a role, such as those sustained by White and Castle. Initially, Castle was scheduled for a bout, but got hurt during her encounter with Strong. Skye Blue’s injury from Collision affected both ROH and AEW. The injuries also impacted the build-up to the event.

At 7 PM Eastern Time on ROH’s YouTube channel, “Zero Hour” will kick off. Starting at 8 PM ET only on Honor Club, you can catch “Death Before Dishonor.”
