The live-action adaptation of One Piece on Netflix is building a large cast, and only one of the main Straw Hat Pirates hasn’t been revealed yet. The cast for season 2 expanded significantly with the addition of characters from Baroque Works and new crew members for the Going Merry. Notably, Nefertari Vivi joined the cast, which directly lays the groundwork for the story in season 3.
The upcoming third season of the show will feature the villains from Baroque Works, as seen in One Piece. They plan to invade the kingdom of Alabasta, and Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hats, will need to team up with new allies to stop them.
Although we’ve met some of Luffy’s future allies in the series, there’s still one member of the Straw Hat Pirates who hasn’t been revealed yet, either through hints or a full introduction.
Franky Is The Only Straw Hat Pirate Not Mentioned In Netflix’s One Piece
Please be aware that the following contains spoilers for the One Piece manga and may spoil future episodes of the Netflix series.
So far in the Netflix live-action series One Piece, Franky is the only major character who hasn’t been mentioned yet. Like Tony Tony Chopper, who appeared in season 2, Franky will eventually join Luffy’s crew as a Straw Hat Pirate, according to the original story. Season 1 of the show already introduced us to the backgrounds of Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and Usopp.
Season 2 also focused on Chopper, and importantly, it began to set up the stories for two characters who would later join the Straw Hat Pirates. One of these characters, Nico Robin, played a significant role in season 2. Although her real name wasn’t revealed until the very end of the season, earlier episodes introduced her as ‘Miss All Sunday’.
A high-ranking officer from the Baroque Works organization will eventually become a key member of the Straw Hat Pirates. The series has also hinted at another future crewmate on multiple occasions. For example, in season 2, a flashback revealed King Wapol discussing the murder of a Fishman queen and a powerful pirate known as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
In the first season of One Piece, Arlong mentioned a powerful Fishman Warlord named Jinbe, who later becomes a member of Luffy’s crew. The last member of the Straw Hat crew hinted at early in the series is Brook, and he officially appeared in the second season. Brook was first shown as part of Laboon’s backstory in season 2, episode 2, with Martial T. Batchamen providing his voice acting.
Brook will eventually meet up with the Straw Hat Pirates again, but things will be quite different. Although both Brook and Jinbe joined the crew after Franky, Franky is the only Straw Hat character who hasn’t been hinted at in the live-action series so far.
Franky Could Join Luffy’s Crew In One Piece Season 5
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, Franky is expected to become part of Luffy’s crew in season 5 of One Piece. The ending of season 2 suggests that all of season 3 will focus on the events in Alabasta, finishing the storyline that started there. Season 4 will probably cover the Sky Island Saga, following the original manga.
Fans are anticipating that One Piece season 5 will cover the Water 7 Saga, which is where we first meet the character Franky. Similar to Nico Robin, Franky is initially presented as an opponent before eventually becoming a member of Luffy’s crew. While Franky hasn’t appeared yet, his introduction is expected to happen soon.
