As a long-time follower of Meghan Markle, I’m really intrigued by her upcoming trip to Australia. It’s being talked about a lot because of her retreat, but I’m starting to think there’s more to it than meets the eye. Recent information suggests she might be strategically planning something bigger business-wise while she’s there, and honestly, it doesn’t surprise me – she’s always been incredibly savvy.
Meghan Markle, 44, has quietly registered trademarks in Australia for her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The filings were made with the Australian government’s intellectual property office.
These applications, first submitted in September 2024 and approved last June, include a diverse range of items.
They include skincare, candles, gardening, clothing, event planning, jewellery and home décor.
Now that Meghan Markle’s deal with Netflix has finished, sources suggest this would be a good moment for her to start a new business.
The streaming service has stopped featuring Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, and won’t be making another season of her reality show, With Love, Meghan.
The details of these filings are surprising, especially since Meghan’s representatives recently denied she was planning to launch her brand, As Ever, in Australia during her upcoming visit.
Although many people thought the visit might help the brand grow internationally, a representative for As Ever said that wasn’t the case.
According to the company’s representatives, there were no plans to expand into Australia, and reports suggesting otherwise are just rumors.
Currently, As Ever products are only sold in the United States and online.
Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan are planning a trip to Sydney and Melbourne. It will be their first visit to Australia since October 2018, and they’ll be focusing on personal commitments, work, and charitable activities.
Meghan is scheduled to make a well-paid appearance in Sydney, headlining a women’s retreat organized by Besties. Tickets for the event cost $3,000 each.
For $3,000, VIP ticket holders will receive front-row seats and a group photo opportunity with the 44-year-old actress known for her role in Suits.
But the event has also come under scrutiny.
Gemma O’Neill, co-founder of Besties, is facing financial difficulties after her talent agency went into collapse and accumulated over $500,000 in debt to the Australian Tax Office. Meanwhile, her business partner, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, has been going through a tough time since her radio show with Kyle Sandilands was cancelled.
It’s still unclear if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet, will accompany them on their upcoming trip, or if they’ll stay home in California.
Because of his background and relationships, the couple will probably also have a chance to meet with members of the Australian military or veteran groups during their visit.
Meghan may also explore opportunities in Australian podcasting. She’s reportedly scheduled to be a guest on ‘Her Best Life,’ a podcast created and co-hosted by Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s company, Besties.
Even though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are world-famous, experts are suggesting their next trip to Australia might not be as enthusiastically welcomed as their previous one.
According to royal reporter Tom Sykes, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not receive a friendly reception anymore, as their popularity has reportedly dropped to its lowest point ever.
