Mindy Cohn reveals she was ‘devastated’ after ‘greedy b****’ in The Facts of Life cast halted reboot: ‘It was an ouch’
As a lifestyle expert with a background in psychology and a deep appreciation for the intricacies of human relationships, I cannot help but be saddened by the turn of events surrounding The Facts of Life cast and their failed reboot attempt.
Mindy Cohn was deeply saddened when a selfish and uncaring individual from the cast of The Facts of Life prevented the show’s comeback: “This was a major setback.”
Mindy, a former cast member of “The Facts of Life” at the age of 58, disclosed that one of her famous colleagues hindered the revival of their successful NBC sitcom which originally ran from 1979 to 1988 for nine seasons.
In 2021, events unfolded following the acclaimed success of Norman Lear’s Live in Front of a Studio Audience project for The Facts of Life. This innovative special saw celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Gabrielle Union, and Jon Stewart reenact an episode from the show.
Norman made a shocking announcement during the live special, exclaiming, “I underestimated how much you all are loved! The turnout was incredible.” (Former child star, who portrayed Natalie Green, shared this on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live.)
During the pandemic, the four of us held meetings via Zoom for discussions. We subsequently brought on a writer to help us with the project.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “I want to share an experience I had with some friends recently. One friend attempted to make a personal deal behind our backs for a spin-off project, which left the rest of us feeling betrayed and devastated. With over 40 years of friendship and sisterhood, the emotional impact was immense.”
When fellow guest Michael Hitchcock quipped that ‘there’s always a greedy b****,’ Cohn concurred:
‘I’ll say it, she’s a greedy b****.’
For forty years, we didn’t discuss matters between us and acted in unison, looking out for one another. However, this situation disrupted our longstanding peace, which is unfortunate.
Based on Mindy sharing a photo with Kim Fields and Nancy McKeon, it’s likely that the person referred to as the “greedy b****” in previous context is Lisa Whelchel, known for her role as Blair Warner in The Facts of Life, which is a spin-off of Diff’rent Strokes.
“It’s truly unfortunate and shocking to see some people’s desperation for wealth or recognition push them to acts that leave me in disbelief. I find it hard to become jaded by such behaviors.” – Cohn expressed his astonishment.
I’m consistently taken aback by such actions. Is it really worth sacrificing genuine friendships for monetary gains or fame? It’s astonishing to me how easily some people discard these valuable relationships.
Friends star Jennifer Aniston, 55, revived Lisa’s role as Blair in the 2021 production.
Lisa, who hails from Texas, told Extra at the time that she thought Jennifer did an ‘amazing job.’
“I would have been thrilled if Jennifer Aniston hadn’t even spoken a word in that role, but she truly excelled – her performance was outstanding,” expressed the proud mother of two.
An episode recreation showed Blair unintentionally involving herself in a mean-spirited joke targeting a shy, braces-wearing admirer of hers, played by Jon, causing him distress.
Apple Studios recently announced that they have renewed Abe Sylvia’s 1960s high society comedy-drama “Palm Royale” for a second season. This means Daytime Emmy nominee Mindy will have the opportunity to portray her character, Ann Holiday, as The Shiny Sheet society editor once again.
The poorly-received satire includes an all-star cast featuring Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Kaia Gerber, and Carol Burnett.
