Mel B hinted at a possible Spice Girls reunion while Victoria Beckham‘s latest single topped the charts, despite recent drama surrounding a harsh comment made by her son, Brooklyn.
Melanie Brown, known as Scary Spice, age 50, recently showed her support for a video discussing a possible reunion of the Spice Girls – which also includes Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell – by liking it.
The video clip came from the “Shouldn’t Laugh But…” podcast. Host Laura Smyth proposed that Victoria could lessen the negative publicity from her son’s comments by reuniting the group.
Mel B’s recent activity sparked excitement among fans, leading many to believe a Spice Girls reunion might finally be happening after years of speculation.
In a podcast clip, Laura told Victoria directly, “The only way you’ll recover from this public relations mess is…”
Just three words: a Spice Girls reunion. It’s going to be huge, and I really want you to be a part of it. But it needs all five members – not just four.
‘And that is the only way your going to get past this.’
One fan wrote underneath the clip: ‘And Mel B ‘liked’ this (shocked face emoji).’
This news follows a weekend of celebrations for Victoria with her Spice Girls colleagues, and shortly after her son Brooklyn shared a surprising announcement that deeply upset her.
Victoria posted a picture on Sunday morning from Emma’s 50th birthday party, which was held the night before at Soho Farmhouse.
Victoria shared a birthday message online, calling her friends ‘the most beautiful souls’ and expressing her love for them. Geri also posted the same group photo, but Mel B was the only Spice Girl not pictured.
David Beckham shared a sweet message on his wife Victoria’s post, saying it ‘made him so happy’ and that he could only imagine how excited Spice Girls fans were. He was celebrating Emma on a special night.
This happened after she finally spoke out on social media, following Brooklyn’s post earlier this week wishing Emma a happy birthday. Brooklyn had posted the message on the actual day, before they celebrated in person.
Victoria likely had a lot on her mind when she met with the Spice Girls, especially after a difficult week, according to friends.
On Monday, 26-year-old Brooklyn released a strong six-page statement explaining he doesn’t want to repair his relationship with his family, including his father, David.
Although he previously admitted to being very close to his mother, Brooklyn’s recent harsh words were directed at Victoria, and reports suggest she was deeply upset by them.
Brooklyn claimed his mother interrupted his first dance at his wedding to Nicola Peltz, 31, and danced with him in a way that made him uncomfortable in front of their guests. He also accused his parents of attempting to sabotage his relationship with his wife.
Victoria is reportedly hurt and feels betrayed by Brooklyn’s recent, surprising comments and disclosures, especially after she dedicated years to shielding him from damaging rumors.
Brooklyn emphasized that maintaining the ‘Brand Beckham’ and publicly showcasing family values were his top priorities in his statement.
For years, 51-year-old Victoria has dedicated herself to safeguarding Brooklyn’s reputation by addressing past narratives that weren’t always flattering.
According to a source, the fashion designer generally tries to avoid family drama, but believes her son and his wife, Nicola, have been acting unfairly.
From what I understand, Victoria is really hurting right now. She’s put so much effort into making everyone feel included and has truly embraced Nicola as if she were another daughter, so she feels incredibly let down by how things have unfolded. It’s a tough situation when you open your heart and home to someone, and it doesn’t feel reciprocated.
Oh my gosh, I heard from someone close to her, and it’s just so unfair! Apparently, she’s really hurt because everything she’s tried to do to keep the peace has been thrown in her face. She usually bends over backwards to avoid any family drama, but she honestly thinks everyone involved is being totally unreasonable right now. It’s just awful to see her dealing with this!
The Daily Mail contacted the Beckhams representative for comment.
Mel C recently shared the reason she’s kept her daughter, Scarlet, out of the public spotlight, in an interview released on Sunday, adding to the ongoing discussions.
Mel B, the Spice Girls singer who is 52 years old, has a 16-year-old daughter named Scarlet with her former partner, Thomas Starr. She’s expressed relief that Scarlet doesn’t intend to pursue a career in music.
Mel C, Victoria Beckham’s former Spice Girls bandmate, has expressed relief that her daughter isn’t interested in fame, and hinted that some of her friends have taken a different approach with their own children.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, she expressed her relief that her daughter isn’t interested in becoming a public figure. She explained it’s difficult for children to build their own identity when their parent is already successful and well-known.
We’re openly acknowledging that Scarlet benefits from having connections in the industry. Honestly, let’s just own it! The reason people don’t know much about her is because I intentionally kept her out of the public spotlight from a young age.
I’ve definitely seen friends approach things differently, and that’s totally fine – everyone has their own way. But personally, because of what I’ve gone through with being in the public eye, I just didn’t feel right making that kind of choice for her. It just didn’t sit well with me, knowing what fame can be like.
In the interview she also spoke about her relationship with the other Spice Girls.
You know, people always ask me about maintaining friendships, and it’s so relatable when someone admits things aren’t always consistent. When I asked about her relationship with Emma, she said it definitely goes up and down, but she quickly reassured me they’re still very close. It’s a realistic take – friendships do ebb and flow, but that doesn’t mean the connection is gone!
She expressed interest in a Spice Girls reunion, but hinted that Victoria Beckham was the main obstacle preventing it from happening.
Mel C posted the same photo from Emma Bunton’s birthday party this weekend, writing a caption that said, ‘Such a beautiful night celebrating our @emmaleebunton! Sending love to everyone after over 30 years of friendship.’
Following a recent controversy, Victoria has achieved her first number one hit as a solo artist. A large campaign on social media helped propel her to the top of the charts.
Victoria Beckham’s 2001 song, ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’ – famous for its suggestive dance performance by Posh Spice – has unexpectedly topped the iTunes charts in both the UK and Ireland.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been watching this unfold and it’s fascinating! It seems a huge social media push is behind the recent chart success, all focused on a really fun campaign to get Victoria Beckham a solo number one hit. They’re playfully calling it a ‘national tragedy’ that she’s the only Spice Girl who hasn’t topped the charts solo – it’s a clever and engaging way to rally support and get people listening!
Victoria’s youngest son, Cruz, joined in promoting her work by using one of her songs in a video he shared on Instagram on Thursday.
Although Victoria was the final Spice Girl to launch a solo career, her attempts in the early 2000s didn’t achieve the same level of success as those of the other members.
Although she launched her solo career with the single “Not Such An Innocent Girl” and a huge promotional push, Kylie Minogue’s popular song “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” still reached number one instead.
Victoria previously faced a disappointing chart battle when her collaboration with producers True Steppers and singer Dane Bowers didn’t perform as well as expected.
The song had a very strong debut, selling over 180,584 copies in its first few days – the highest first-week sales for any solo Spice Girl. However, it narrowly missed the number one spot, losing out to Spiller and Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)” after a highly publicized competition for the top chart position.
Victoria Beckham, after her singing career didn’t take off, transitioned to fashion design. She’s shared that during her time with the Spice Girls, producers would sometimes silence her microphone while she was performing.
