The Sag Harbor Police Department has publicly released body camera footage of the recent arrest of a famous singer for driving under the influence (DUI). The incident occurred on June 18, 2024, after the singer left the American Hotel.

I’ve been following Justin Timberlake’s case closely, and it’s heartbreaking to hear he really fought to keep that dashcam footage private. He explained he was going through a really tough time personally when he was pulled over, and was especially vulnerable then. It’s just sad to think about what he was dealing with at that moment.

Police arrested the 45-year-old singer, and he was handcuffed at the station. He tried to be polite to the officers while minimizing how much he’d had to drink that night.

The singer, known for his hit ‘SexyBack,’ thanked the people who were working and then explained he’d had one martini and let his friends lead the way home.

According to the officer, the singer was arrested because police observed signs of impairment and he didn’t perform well on field sobriety tests.

A dejected Timberlake replied, ‘You boys are treating me like a criminal.’ 

When Timberlake was pulled over while driving his 2025 BMW X7, he seemed to attempt to make the officers laugh or feel more comfortable.

After seeing paperwork that listed his race as ‘White,’ Timberlake playfully questioned the designation with a ‘White?’ and then immediately clarified he was joking.

Videos released by police show Justin Timberlake seemed unsure and anxious while trying to follow the instructions for the field sobriety tests.

‘These are, like, hard tests,’ Timberlake said. ‘My heart’s racing.’

When the officer asked if he was visiting the Hamptons, Justin Timberlake explained he was on a world tour. He added, with some difficulty, ‘I’m Justin Timberlake.’

After refusing to take a breathalyzer test, Timberlake was arrested and taken into custody.

The singer of “What Goes Around… Comes Around” accepted a plea deal on September 13, 2024, just under three months after the event happened.

After accepting a plea deal for impaired driving, Timberlake released a statement speaking out against drunk driving.

Justin Timberlake said he expects a lot from himself and felt he hadn’t met those expectations. He also strongly urged people not to drink and drive, emphasizing that there are always other options like calling a taxi or getting a ride from a friend.

Timberlake explained that people could get a ride by calling a friend, taking a taxi, or using ride-sharing apps like Uber.

He concluded by admitting he’d made an error, but hoped others could learn from it, saying he himself had definitely learned a valuable lesson.

Timberlake is father to sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, five, with wife Jessica Biel, 44.
