Karl Urban shares disappointing release timeline for The Boys season 5
As a die-hard fan of The Boys, I have to say I was both elated and dismayed by Karl Urban’s recent Instagram update regarding the release timeline for season 5. On one hand, it’s fantastic news that we’ll be getting a final season of this brilliant show. But on the other hand, the wait is going to be excruciatingly long.
Only a few days have passed since the conclusion of “The Boys” season 4, and Karl Urban has given fans some information regarding the expected arrival of seasons 5 and the last one.
Amazon has announced that “The Boys” will return for a fifth and concluding season, which is currently being produced. This announcement came just prior to the release of season 4 in June. Fans are eagerly anticipating the new episodes, but it’s with regret that we bring you this next piece of information: there’s some disappointing news on the horizon.
On Instagram, Urban posted a few images of himself as Butcher and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who portrayed Joe Kessler, from the set of season 4. Urban included some intriguing details about season 5 in the caption. Following a heartfelt compliment towards Morgan, Urban commented, “Can’t wait for us to reunite… in 2 years (if only it were sooner) for the last season on Prime Video.”
So, there you have it. The Boys season 5 isn’t coming to Prime Video for two years.
It was already expected, as Eric Kripke announced in an interview with Variety back before the season 4 finale that they would start filming season 5 in November 2024. The production is supposed to carry on until mid-2025.
It’s not totally locked in yet but we are going to start shooting around mid-November. And I don’t know when it’ll premiere yet, but we’ll be shooting well into middle of ’25.
If the current schedule holds, it’s unlikely that we’ll get to see The Boys season 5 before the spring or summer of 2026. Amazon tends to drop this series during the summer months based on previous releases. As I mentioned earlier in other articles, every season of The Boys has debuted between June and September.
After filming concludes, the imaginative team and workers will require additional hours to perfect post-production. If production finishes around mid-year or summer, it would be tough to launch season 5 by the end of 2025. A more reasonable assumption is that we’ll see The Boys season 5 in 2026.
I’m excited to share that not only is season 1 of Gen V currently airing, but reports indicate that production on season 2 has begun as well! Although the exact filming schedule hasn’t been announced yet, we can expect season 2 to continue into late this year.
As a long-time fan of “Gen V” and “The Boys,” I can’t help but get excited about the latest rumors circulating around the release of “Gen V” season 2, allegedly slated for 2025. While it’s true that we may not be getting the next installment of the main series next year, I believe that the spinoff in the works will more than make up for it.
We’re currently at this point. However, it’s essential to note that Amazon, not Urban, has the final say on when season 5 will air. They might delay the release for a grand promotion campaign and high-profile press tour to ensure top-notch quality.
The release of the last season of “The Boys” is taking some time, but trust me, it will be an enjoyable experience once it arrives.
