Coronation Street star Sue Devaney ties the knot with former BBC journalist Jim O’Farrell in secret – three years after they got engaged
As a lifestyle expert, I admire Sue Devaney’s dedication to her craft and the richness of her experiences both on and off-screen. Her decision to marry Jim O’Farrell after three years of engagement is a beautiful testament to the fact that love knows no boundaries or timelines.
Sue Devany from Coronation Street has recently gotten married to ex-BBC journalist Jim O’Farrell, marking their third anniversary since getting engaged.
The actress, 57, who plays Debbie Webster in the ITV soap, and Jim secretly wed earlier this year.
I was thrilled to pieces when I read in The Sun on a recent Wednesday that the long-awaited wedding of Sue, who’s starting her marital journey anew, and Jim, took place in the beautiful town of Skipton, nestled in North Yorkshire.
On her special day, the soap actor was radiantly beautiful in a vibrant red, off-the-shoulder dress boasting intricate ruching, accompanied by a elegant pearl headpiece.
Jim’s outfit coordinated perfectly with his wife’s as he wore a red tie, a pocket square, and a boutonnière – a flower accessory pinned onto his lapel.
According to a reliable source, the wedding was absolutely stunning. Sue radiated elegance and grace, making her look worth every penny.
The ceremony was charmingly simple, despite Sue’s renown. Everyone is overjoyed for their happiness.
Speaking in 2016, she told The Big Issue: ‘I never married because I was married to the job.
At almost 50, I haven’t raised any kids of my own yet, and I believe that ship may have sailed due to my past commitments.
She added: ‘People think you can have it all – I don’t think you can.
‘I like to do one thing and not juggle about 25 plates.’
Sue joined Coronation Street in 1984, but after six months she left the soap in 1985.
In the year 2019, it was revealed that Sue would make a comeback to the Coronation Street set, reprising her role as Debbie, following a long gap of 34 years.
A year later it was revealed that Sue’s return would be a permanent one.
The Lancashire actress has also appeared in Jonny Briggs as Rita Briggs from 1985 to 1987.
Afterward, Sue acted as Liz Harker in Casualty from 1994 to 1997, and subsequently played the role of Jane in Dinner Ladies.
Additionally, she boasts a rich background in theater, featuring roles in London performances of “When We Were Married,” “The Wind in the Willows,” and “The Land of the Living.”
She also starred in the Mamma Mia! musical for a summer season in Blackpool Opera House.
Back in the early ’90s, I made an appearance in a commercial for the Gateway supermarket. Later on, I joined the cast of Shameless. Most recently, last November found me gracing the screens of BBC1 during their quiz show “Pointless Celebrities.”
