Larry Emdur admits to 'disliking' Rove McManus in shock radio interview as he reignites their 'feud'

As a dedicated follower of Australian television, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the long-standing “feud” between Larry Emdur and Rove McManus unfold over the years. Having closely observed their playful banter and friendly rivalry, I can’t help but feel a sense of amusement and intrigue as this old feud has been reignited.

The Morning Show host Larry Emdur has reignited an an old ‘feud’ with TV veteran Rove McManus.

During an interview on Hughesy, Ed & Erin’s 2Day show on Wednesday, the favorite for the Gold Logie at 50 years old expressed that she didn’t care for Rove.

Larry made the admission when he was challenged to do a lie detector test.

Host Dave Hughes, fondly known as “Hughesy,” began the segment by bringing up Larry’s past history of disagreements with Rove, which have gained notoriety over the years.

After asking the Channel Seven star whether he ‘disliked’ Rove, Larry firmly replied ‘No.’

But unfortunately for Larry the lie detector machine came back with a definitive ‘Yes’.

After failing the test a second time Larry insisted: ‘I love Rove.’

In the latter part of the show, Larry proposed an explanation as to why the lie detector test didn’t work in his favor – he suspected there might have been an issue with the device itself.

‘I reckon the machine was broken,’ he joked. ‘Was it bought second-hand on Gumtree somewhere?’

’No, look I love Rove. I love all his Instagram posts. That’s love,’ he continued.

Later on, he suggested that Larry might have made the mistake due to having paid for Rove during their recent evening out.

Based on my personal experience and recent interactions, I believe that about a month ago, Rove and I had an engaging dinner together. And you know, with the increasing trend of contactless payments, we made use of those convenient QR codes to settle the bill at the end of our delightful meal.

I recall an occasion when the check arrived at the table and we were unable to divide it evenly. A subtle undercurrent of annoyance seemed to surface between us, though I tried to lighten the mood with a jest.

Dave admitted he had tried to get Rove on the segment for his reaction.

Upon returning from a trip abroad the previous night, the media veteran refused.

‘That’s not a really good excuse,’ Larry clapped back, adding: ‘I think that there’s an issue now.

“He (Rove) has a strong affection for the Irwin clan, and not surprisingly, young Robert (Irwin) has been nominated for a Logie Award in the same category as mine.”

‘So I reckon Rove has some issues now.’

Larry and Rove, who have been friends for over a decade, often take playful jabs at one another.

In 2016, Rove issued a challenge to the Channel Seven personality to engage in a verbal sparring match with him on his 2Day FM morning program. This took place over the course of three rounds, which were held on the radio station’s rooftop.

The feud between the pair, which Larry eventually prevailed in through a match, was jokingly suggested as the solution to their long-standing disagreement.

In 1999, Rove became well-known by launching his own talk show on Channel Nine, which was named after him. Presently, his production company, Roving Enterprises, is responsible for creating The Project on Channel Ten.
