We won’t be watching the final season of The Boys for another two years, Karl Urban says
As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of The Boys, I have to say that the fourth season has left me with mixed feelings. The satire and wit were as sharp as ever, but there seems to be more backlash than in previous seasons, with user ratings on sites like Rotten Tomatoes taking a hit. Yet, there are also more user ratings and a significant increase in viewership. Perhaps the growing audience comes with a larger number of people voicing their opinions, both positive and negative.
The fourth installment of “The Boys” on Amazon Prime Video has come to an end. This season has raised some intrigue among viewers. Although the show’s satire remains just as biting and incisive as before, there seems to be more controversy than previously noted. User reviews on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes have dropped compared to season 3. However, the number of user reviews has noticeably increased, and overall viewership has significantly surged. It’s plausible that with a larger audience comes an increase in varying opinions.
As a dedicated fan of “The Boys,” I must say that the cliffhanger ending of season 4 left me utterly thrilled and eagerly anticipating the final season. However, it seems that we, the loyal viewers, will have to wait for quite some time before we get to witness the grand finale. This news comes directly from the horse’s mouth, or rather, Karl Urban’s Instagram account. He wrote, “That’s all [The Boys] for now, folks.” Sadly, he estimates that we’ll have to endure a two-year wait before the final season graces our screens on Amazon Prime Video. I’ve followed this series since its inception and have grown attached to the characters and their wild adventures. The prospect of waiting another two long years feels like an eternity, but I’ll remain hopeful that the wait will be worth it.
The first and second seasons of The Boys were released relatively close together, within a year’s time. However, subsequent seasons have had two-year gaps between them. This is a common pattern for big-budget shows like this one. Although I’d prefer the series to conclude more quickly, the extended breaks likely provide the cast and crew with the necessary time to create top-quality final episodes.
The Boys showrunner thinks Karl Urban should get an Emmy
It’s possible that Urban’s exceptional portrayal of Billy Butcher in season 4 may earn him long-overdue Emmy accolades. Although we won’t know for sure until the 2025 Emmy nominations are revealed next year, showrunner Erik Kripke fervently hopes this will be the case. During the finale’s climactic scene, where Butcher lay dying and requested a shocking favor from Hughie (Quaid), Kripke expressed high praise for Urban’s moving performance.
I was deeply moved by the Butcher scene in The Boys featuring Karl Urban. Our initial intention was to alternate between his actions and those of Hughie. However, Urban’s performance was so touching and impressive that we chose to focus solely on him. His acting is of exceptional caliber and has consistently earned Emmy awards. #TheBoys #KarlUrban #PrimeVideo

Kripke strongly argues that Antony Starr deserves an Emmy award for his outstanding performance as the sociopathic superhero Homelander in season 4, with the standout episode being “Wisdom of the Ages.” Instead of setting modest goals, let’s aim for the ultimate recognition.
