Bachelor star calls Taylor Frankie Paul scandal ‘beyond messy’ as he reveals where he stands on cancellation

A past contestant from The Bachelor is speaking out about the recent controversy involving Taylor Frankie Paul, as the show—where he met his wife—now deals with its own issues.

After finding love on The Bachelor in 2023, Zach Shallcross is now making his home in Austin, Texas, following his engagement.

The popular dating show connected to Paul’s romance is facing a crisis. After videos surfaced showing her in a physical altercation with her former partner, Dakota Mortensen, in 2023, the network unexpectedly cancelled her upcoming season of The Bachelorette.

The sudden cancellation of the show came as a huge surprise to fans, who were eagerly anticipating the upcoming season where star Merril Hoge was expected to begin a new romantic journey.

Shallcross, 29, who used to be a leader, shared his thoughts on the situation, describing it as ‘extremely chaotic’ in a recent interview with The Daily Mail.

He admitted the show made the right decision to end, adding that the current issues being highlighted don’t need any further emphasis. He shared this with The Daily Mail at a Clarins event held Friday at the Academy Museum.

Oh my gosh, I just need Paul to get the help he deserves! And honestly, seeing Shallcross sending all those positive vibes from the side? It just melts my heart! She clearly wants him to be okay, and it’s so sweet she’s rooting for him!

‘I do hope Taylor gets the help she needs,’ he added.

‘It’s beyond messy… I’m just going to steer clear of it and we don’t support that stuff.’

Honestly, I just want to send all the good energy I have your way. And seriously, if you ever need someone to vent to, we’re here, always. But please, please, just steer clear of all that drama and negativity. It’s not worth it, and you deserve so much better!

Shallcross married Kaity Biggar, his final pick from the show, last year, and the couple recently purchased a home in Southeast Austin.

The newlywed called married life ‘awesome’ as he revealed their new home.

‘We just bought a house and we’re moving in a month and a half,’ he told The Daily Mail.

The show has long tried to present a positive image, but recently faced a crisis when it chose someone with a past involving domestic violence to be the main star.

The upcoming season of The Bachelorette featuring Paul was canceled shortly before it was scheduled to air. This followed the discovery of a 2023 video showing Paul, age 31, physically assaulting her boyfriend at the time, Dakota Mortensen, 33, while their young daughter, Indy, was present.

Oh my god, it was awful! Paul just completely lost it and THREW a stool at Mortensen! And then… then I heard Indy, my sweet little Indy who’s only eight, just burst into tears. Mortensen was horrified, yelling, ‘Your daughter just got hit in the head by a metal chair!’ It was a nightmare, honestly. I can’t even talk about it without getting upset all over again.

In 2023, Paul, a mother of three, was arrested following a reported domestic dispute. A video from the incident played a key role in the case, and she eventually pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault.

Everyone knew about this situation for years before police started a new investigation this February, claiming an incident occurred. On Friday, a judge granted Paul a restraining order against Mortensen, finding that Mortensen posed an immediate danger to him.

ABC, owned by Disney Entertainment Television, announced it would not continue with the upcoming season of The Bachelorette shortly after video of a domestic violence incident surfaced.

Disney stated they are prioritizing family-friendly content after deciding to cancel the upcoming 22nd season of their reality show, originally scheduled to premiere on March 22nd.

The canceled season will reportedly cost the network a staggering $28 million.

The video showing the fight between Paul and her ex-boyfriend has gone viral. In it, Paul can be seen getting upset and throwing a chair at Mortensen while her eight-year-old daughter, Indy, was nearby.

Mortensen, who was filming the incident, said in the clip: ‘This is called physical abuse.’

Amidst the ongoing fight between Mortensen and Paul, a child’s cries could be heard. Mortensen then announced, ‘Your daughter was just struck in the head by a metal chair.’

Together, they have a son named Ever, who is two years old.

The reality TV personality, known from Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has publicly stated she endured years of ‘severe mental and physical abuse and threats’ without speaking out.

Taylor is now feeling empowered to confront the person who harmed her and is taking measures to keep herself and her children safe from future harm.

Paul’s spokesperson stated that many women are silently struggling after leaving controlling and jealous ex-partners who won’t accept the end of the relationship.

They also stated that Paul has remained silent because she fears continued mistreatment, repercussions, and embarrassment, and is now getting help, considering her choices, and getting ready to publicly reveal what happened to her.
