The video starts with Mario and Luigi journeying across the Desert Kingdom, a place many players will recognize from Super Mario Odyssey. The area is filled with large sand dunes, old ruins, and the famous pyramid that’s built upside down and stands out in the scenery.
As the brothers get closer to the pyramid, the movie’s pace slows down, focusing on exploration. Inside, Mario and Luigi carefully make their way through shadowy tunnels, using Fire Flowers as light sources as they go deeper. This focus on the environment and the sheer size of the pyramid suggests the filmmakers are really building up the world and telling the story through the setting itself.
A key scene in the trailer shows Mario and Luigi uncovering a blocked Warp Pipe under some rubble. When they clear it, Yoshi pops out, confirming he’ll be in the new game.

I first met Yoshi back in 1990 with Super Mario World, and he instantly became one of my favorite Nintendo characters! He’s just so recognizable, and I always loved how helpful he was to Mario – whether it was using his special abilities or letting Mario ride on his back. He’s a really friendly companion!
As a huge Mario fan, I was so excited to see Yoshi finally get his due! He originally starred in his own spin-off series, starting with Yoshi’s Island, which is where we met Baby Mario and really saw Yoshi take center stage. That’s why it felt like something was missing when he wasn’t in the first animated movie – a lot of us longtime fans noticed! So, hearing he’s definitely going to be in the sequel is a really big deal and I can’t wait to see what they do with him.
