Jimmy Barnes shares health update as he gets some 'magic body work' following open heart surgery and painful hip replacement

As an obsessed fan of Jimmy Barnes, I cannot help but feel a profound sense of admiration and awe for this legendary musician’s resilience and determination in the face of adversity. His recent health scare last year, which required open heart surgery, was a shock to us all. Yet, here he is, sharing glimpses into his life on tour once again, showing that he is truly on the mend.

Jimmy Barnes is making good progress towards recovery after last year’s unexpected health issue, during which he underwent open heart surgery.

On Mondays, the 68-year-old rock star revealed a peek into his routine before performing by sharing a photo on Instagram of him getting a massage prior to hitting the stage.

Placed face-down on a table and covered with towels, he received care for his head before taking the stage during his New Zealand tour stop.

He wrote in the caption, “I received some special body treatments to prepare myself for touring again. Thank you, Jacki.”

“Our Hell of a Time tour in New Zealand is approaching; we’re excited to head to Aotearoa soon,” Jimmy added.

‘Everyone for getting your tickets and joining us. I’m really enjoying this show, it’s a lot fun.’

Last week, the singer looked fit as a fiddle as he posed up a storm in a boxing ring.

While on vacation in Thailand with his wife Jane, he posted a picture on Instagram from the upscale fitness center of their hotel, striking a pose.

In the delightful photograph, Barnes beamed with joy as he playfully assumed a boxing position, mock-readying to fight while jestingly pretending to box against an unseen opponent and the camera.

In the photo, I exuded an aura of good health and self-assurance, returning the camera’s lens with my signature mischievous smile.

Jimmy titled the image with thoughtful remarks: “Staying active is essential even when traveling and staying at hotels.”

“I’ve discovered the first gym at a hotel that has a Thai boxing ring. It looks like I’ll be next in line for a ring side seat, or so it seems. But wait, I believe my wife Jane intends to give it a try instead.”

The Cold Chisel frontman posted a collection of enjoyable images from his time with family in Bangkok, while he disclosed that he was tuned into the radio broadcast of the State of Origin match.

Towards the end of last year, Jimmy fell gravely ill due to an infection that severely affected his heart. Fortunately, he received effective open heart surgery and made it through the ordeal.

Contemplating his health issues, he confessed to his wife Jane at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital that he believed he wouldn’t survive.

He recently shared with 60Minutes that he’d never felt ill like this before, and it gave him an overwhelming, unsettling sensation that he was on the brink of something very bad.

A few hours before being admitted to the hospital, an ailing Jimmy performed at a memorial event in honor of his deceased friend and promoter, Michael Gudinski.

Barnes shared that he felt extremely ill and scarcely recalled the performance, describing symptoms of heavy sweating and a high temperature in the wings. With his upcoming foreign concert looming, an unexpected turn for the worse compelled him to seek medical attention at the hospital instead.

Specialists found that an infection in his bloodstream was triggering endocarditis, a potentially fatal inflammation of the heart, leading his body to begin shutting down.

During the prolonged seven-hour operation in the surgical room, the doctors managed to save him by replacing his faulty valves and mending his heart.

After passing the seven-month mark, Barnes’ progress in his recovery has been noteworthy. He’s shared exciting news that Australian rock band Cold Chisel will be launching a nationwide tour towards the end of this year.
