Matt Smith requests Katie Price’s ex-husband and former stripper Kieran Hayler to be axed from scenes shared with the former Doctor Who actor in new high-brow TV drama
As a dedicated fan and follower of the entertainment industry, I was taken aback when I heard the unexpected casting news about Kieran Hayler in the upcoming Sky drama “The Death of Bunny Munro.” The fact that he landed a role alongside Matt Smith left me, as well as Smith’s co-stars, in a state of disbelief.
Surprisingly, his co-stars were taken aback when he secured a part in the upcoming sophisticated Sky production, “The Death of Bunny Munro.”
It seems that Matt Smith, the main character of the show, was taken by surprise more than anyone else when Katie Price’s ex-husband Kieran Hayler made a surprising revelation or action.
The previous Doctor Who actor was surprised and requested that the scene with the former stripper be removed from his filmed footage.
According to insiders, Smith, who portrayed a young Prince Philip in The Crown, feels embarrassed about being featured in the same production as Hayler. It seems that he was unintentionally chosen for the dark comedy based on Nick Cave’s novel, an adaptation.
A Sky source said: ‘When Matt realised Kieran was on the same show, he was quite surprised.
I’ve worked as a film editor for over a decade, and I’ve seen my fair share of behind-the-scenes drama. In the project we’re currently working on, there were two male actors who filmed their scenes together on set. However, after reviewing the footage, Matt’s team came to the decision that having him appear alongside his co-actor just wouldn’t work out. So, they approached the production staff and requested that Matt be edited out of those particular scenes. It’s a tough call for any creative team to make, but sometimes artistic vision trumps logistics. I’ve seen it happen before, and it’s never an easy process. But in the end, the final product is what matters most.
As a seasoned theater critic with years of experience under my belt, I find it truly astonishing to ponder over the fact that Matt, a newcomer to the acting scene as far as we know, is set to appear in the same production as Kieran. The intrigue doesn’t end there though, as this high-caliber show boasts an impressive lineup that includes none other than Robert Glenister. It’s a testament to the unpredictability and allure of the world of theater.
Instead of letting this continue, Matt’s team felt compelled to act. They requested his removal to prevent any further harm to Matt’s professional image. It’s safe to assume that this situation wouldn’t have benefited Matt in a positive way.
Thirty-seven-year-old Hayler, previously employed as a stripper and now renowned as Ms. Price’s third spouse, has been making headlines lately. He was recently filmed in conjunction with Smith, 42, during the production of Sky Atlantic’s six-part series, “Bunny Munro.” This captivating drama depicts the life of Bunny Munro, a sex addict who encounters numerous women through his job as a traveling salesman for beauty products.
In 2013, Haley wedded Ms. Price (who was 46 years old at the time), and that very year they became parents to their firstborn son, named Jett. The subsequent year brought the arrival of their little girl, whom they named Bunny.
In a short time after their wedding, tensions rose between them when Ms. Price alleged that her husband was unfaithful. She proposed reconciliation under the condition that he sought help for his suspected sex addiction. However, she later accused him of another infidelity, leading to their divorce in 2021.
Bunny Munro, like many men, finds it hard to resist the charms of the opposite sex. Yet, he’s burdened with the responsibility of raising his young son alone following his wife’s suicide.
Filmed in the south of England, the series also stars Roadkill actress Sarah Greene.
