Charlize Theron shares her reaction to Furiosa

As a huge fan of the Mad Max franchise, I was absolutely thrilled to hear Charlize Theron’s glowing review of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” The actress, who brought Furiosa to life in Fury Road, described the film as “amazing” and “beautiful,” words that perfectly encapsulate my own feelings towards it.

In simple terms, the new action movie, which is the fifth installment in the Mad Max series, acts as a prequel to Fury Road from 2015. Anya Taylor-Joy portrays a younger Furiosa in this film.

I, Theron, had the pleasure of attending an event for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project recently. While there, I couldn’t help but share my thoughts on the newest addition to the Mad Max franchise. I must admit, I was thoroughly impressed by the brilliant direction of George Miller once again.

She expressed her amazement to The Hollywood Reporter, commenting on the film’s beauty before discussing her connection with Taylor-Joy.

I’ve had the chance to be asked if there had been some time spent together by this person. My answer is a clear no. In truth, we have been putting in great effort to establish a connection between us. It’s quite an amusing situation when you think about it – the two of us trying to find common ground and build a relationship. Quite an entertaining endeavor, really.

I’ve found myself crossing paths with someone frequently, but due to our busy schedules, we seldom have the chance for lengthy conversations. Each time we meet, we exchange pleasantries and promise to arrange a proper catch-up. Yet, life keeps getting in the way. Between work commitments, family obligations, and other priorities, it seems impossible to find a mutually convenient time. However, I strongly believe that when the timing is right, we will manage to make it work and finally have that long-awaited conversation. After all, our shared experiences and connections are worth investing in.

As a gamer, I wasn’t the only one who was blown away by Furiosa’s performance in the film. The critics raved about it when it came out. And guess what? Even Tom Burke, the actor who played Praetorian Jack, couldn’t believe his luck for getting cast in the role by Miller. We were all in awe of Furiosa’s brilliance!

Burke expressed surprise, mentioning that he had learned only a few days prior that this fact was true. Previously, he was aware that “that guy” had left, but unaware of the detail that he had stopped looking. The realization that he is now part of the movie depicted in the poster still feels astonishing to him.

He mentioned that his character’s connection with Furiosa was crucial for the plot, and it felt more important to him to fulfill that responsibility than to focus on playing a specific genre role.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is available on demand now and on DVD / Blu-ray on August 12.
