Lego Hill Climb Adventures is cute version of Trials

I’m a huge fan of video games, and during my college years, I played a few that left a lasting impression on me. Among them were “Halo 3” with my friends, “Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter” with my roommate and her dad, and “Trials HD” by myself. These games brought me countless hours of enjoyment and created some unforgettable memories.

In my college days, I engaged in the world of video games by playing three different titles. I spent hours with my friends conquering missions in Halo 3. Living with my roommate and her father, we took turns on the controller for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Alone in my room, I challenged myself with the intricacies of Trials HD. With time, my gaming horizons expanded, but nothing has ever truly compared to the feeling of mastering Trials. Even now, when I yearn for a taste of nostalgia, there are games that bring back memories of multiplayer shooters from my youth. But it’s only Trials that leaves me feeling on top of the world. This week, an article on Pocket Tactics piqued my interest: “An iPhone Lego game is a must-try for fans of Ubisoft’s Trials series.”

As someone who has always been a fan of Lego and physics-based racing games, I was thrilled when I came across “Lego Hill Climb Adventures.” With its release at the end of May, this game caught my attention as it’s freely available on iOS and Android devices. Having tried and failed to connect with the original “Hill Climb Adventures,” I was intrigued by the prospect of a Lego version.

In this game, you’ll discover numerous Lego cars to unlock and compete against each other in charming environments. As you progress, collect new designs and encounter Minifigs. It’s not just about constructing your own Lego vehicle; there are various customization methods for the existing choices. I particularly enjoy the game’s sound design – the snap of a Lego brick adds an appealing touch to the experience, while crashing into a Lego wall provides an extra level of satisfaction.

In simpler terms, “Lego Hill Climb Adventures” is a less challenging version of the standard physics racing game genre. It doesn’t feature the same level of difficulty as “Trials HD.” However, there are moments in this game that demand precise timing when using your phone screen to swipe or tap. Each vehicle has its unique characteristics, providing ample opportunities for experimentation. The majority of the levels involve racing or completing a course with hurdles like hills, jumps, and destructible objects. The energy system, represented by milk bottles, restricts continuous play. Unless you’re willing to pay or dedicate time to grinding exploration modes, which essentially offer the same courses but without clear objectives other than earning coins, levels, milk bottles, and bricks.

In the game “Lego Hill Climb Adventures,” the monetization system can be quite frustrating, especially since it’s a free mobile app. While it’s feasible to enjoy a significant portion of it without spending any money, you’ll need to put in some effort by grinding. However, even though grinding may seem tedious, it remains engaging due to the diverse options for customizing your vehicle.
