Jessie J is rushed to the hospital for an MRI scan after hitting her head on the roof of a car

Jessie J recently had to go to the hospital for an MRI after accidentally hitting her head on a car roof.

Singer Jessie J, 37, revealed on Instagram that she was worried she’d broken her neck while getting into a car on the way to a concert in Beijing this past Saturday.

Jessie shared a video of herself jokingly saying she didn’t mind squeezing into the back of a car. She then posted footage of a hospital MRI scan she had after hitting her head on the car’s roof.

Jessie, also known as Jessica Cornish, shared a video from backstage before her performance to explain what happened and how she was injured.

The musician explained they were unable to move their head, but weren’t seriously hurt. They planned to take some pain medication and keep going with their work.

‘I thought I’d broken my neck, but I haven’t. But I have really hurt my neck and my back.’

Jessie has been to the hospital a lot recently. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2025, she’s had two surgeries.

The injury happened shortly after she announced a surprising new direction for her career. She plans to pursue comedy and acting next year, moving away from her work in music.

The singer, who received a breast cancer diagnosis last year, discussed her plans for the future and how becoming a mother led her to seek help for her ADHD during an interview on the Women’s Health UK podcast, Just As Well.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Jessie just told me she’s planning to do stand-up comedy next year! Can you believe it?! She seriously wants to do more comedy in general, and she’s dreaming of getting into film too! I’m SO excited for her, she’s going to be amazing, I just know it!

Jessie has been performing since childhood, with experience in both musical theater and voice acting, including roles in productions like Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind.

She went on to do voice work in movies like Ice Age: Collision Course, drawing on her skills as a professional performer.

Jessie says she plans to stay true to her musical style while also creating new songs and going on tour.

I’ll be touring extensively next year, and I’m eager to start creating new music. It’s been three years since I last wrote a song, but I feel like I have a lot of ideas ready to be expressed.

Honestly, all I really want is a peaceful, fulfilling life. I want to feel genuinely happy and balanced – to find joy in my work and at home with my kids. It’s about being fully present, whether I’m focused on motherhood or my career, and enjoying it all with some good music playing. Basically, I’m striving for a calm, healthy, and joyful existence.

I’m open to new challenges, whether it’s through reading, music, comedy, theater, or movies – I’ll embrace whatever opportunities arise.
