Doctor Who’s new spinoff gets exciting filming update

As a devoted fan of Doctor Who, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about the upcoming spinoff series! The news that showrunner Russell T Davies had confirmed spinoffs in the works back in January 2023 had already sent waves of anticipation through the Whovian community. And now, with the announcement that filming for “The War Between the Land and the Sea” is set to begin in September, I can hardly wait!

Fans of Doctor Who have received an exciting update on a new spinoff series.

In January 2023, Russell T Davies, the showrunner of “Doctor Who,” announced plans for spinoffs while reviving the show.

After that point, there have been many discussions among fans regarding the potential themes of the upcoming spin-offs. Some are excitedly waiting for the possible reappearance of the Sea Devils, last spotted in 2022.

Now, according to Deadline, The War Between the Land and the Sea will begin shooting in September.

Despite the BBC remaining silent on any specifics about the upcoming “Doctor Who” series episodes, attentive viewers picked up on a hint hidden in episode 4 of the current season.

In the beginning, the Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, touched down the TARDIS in Wales. Curious Ruby, portrayed by Millie Gibson, questioned him about his confidence in their current whereabouts.

“The scent of that, the green hue, the coastline…” he pondered aloud, suggesting a possible continuation. “Ruby, the endless battle between land and sea… the rocks and water never cease – their struggle.”

Elsewhere in the Whoniverse, Fugitive Doctor Jo Martin’s spinoff has received its release date.

Martin and Sacha Dhawan, who played The Master, were revealed in April 2022 to be joining Big Finish for new audio productions. “The Fugitive Doctor 1” featuring Martin is planned for a January 2025 release.)

In the meantime, Dhawan is set for six more self-led journeys in a series titled “Call Me Master”.
