As a lifestyle expert with a background in mental health and celebrity culture, I cannot help but be deeply saddened by the story of Heath Ledger’s struggle with fame. The account given by Samuel Johnson of their encounter adds another layer to the tragic tale of an immensely talented actor who was unable to cope with the intense public scrutiny and adoration that came with his Hollywood success.
Australian actor Samuel Johnson shared that Heath Ledger privately expressed to him his difficulties handling the limelight and the excessive attention as a renowned Hollywood star.
Ledger tragically died of an accidental drug overdose in his New York apartment aged 28 in 2008.
Johnson, age 46, shared that Ledger made this revelation during a tranquil walk they took together.
When out and about with Heath Ledger, who became a household name, the “The Secret Life of Us” actor found the encounters to be quite intense.
“We walked down the street together once,” he shared on KIIS FM’s Will and Woody Show on Thursday.
‘I remember in about three quarters of a block, there were four girls that fainted.
I’ve witnessed many surprising moments in my life, but none quite compared to what I saw that day. As I walked down the street, a group of people suddenly froze in their tracks, their jaws dropping open in disbelief. I turned to see the cause of their astonishment and was taken aback myself. There, inside a small block, were not one or two, but four people huddled together. I had never before encountered such an extraordinary scene. It left me speechless, a truly phenomenal experience that has stayed with me ever since.
“I inquired about how he was managing, but he met my gaze with an abundance of sadness and simply replied, ‘I can’t’.”

He gave a chilling performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight, which earned him a Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Supporting Actor posthumously. (Posthumously means after someone’s death)
The blockbuster was released in 2008, five months after his tragic death.
It went on to gross over $1billion globally.

After His Role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” Heposthumously Received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
It was later gifted to his daughter Matilda on her 18th birthday last year, reported New Idea.
At the 2009 Oscars, a year after his death at age 28, Heath Ledger’s parents, Kim and Sally Ledger, along with his older sister Kate, received the award on his behalf.

In Perth, where Heath is originally from, the Western Australian Museum held the accolade. Back in 2016, Kim announced that it would be transferred to Matilda.
She was just two years old when her father tragically died.
Following her son’s passing, Michelle Williams left their Brooklyn residence and relocated to a farmhouse in upstate New York.
