My Hero Academia Is About to Lose One of Its Most Unexpected Releases Forever

fans have barely two months left before they lose one of the franchise’s most notable gaming hits.

I just saw the news on the My Hero Academia Ultra Impact website – they’re shutting down the game. It’s sad, but they posted a message thanking everyone for playing and announced that the game will officially stop running on Monday, May 18, 2026. It’s been a lot of fun for those of us who’ve been playing, but sadly, all good things come to an end.

My Hero Academia Ultra Impact Shuts Down for Good in May

I’ve noticed that while My Hero Academia Ultra Impact isn’t shutting down immediately, things are changing. As of March 17th, the game developers stopped selling in-game currency and subscriptions. This means it’s becoming harder for players like me to collect Hero Gems and progress as easily as before, though we still have a little over a month to enjoy the game.

Bandai Namco and Criware created Ultra Impact, a mobile RPG for iOS and Android that offered a surprisingly deep experience based on a popular manga and anime series. Players could choose from over 50 characters and encounter many other characters throughout the game.

Players have generally enjoyed My Hero Academia Ultra Impact, giving it a 4.2 out of 5-star rating on Google Play based on over 30,000 reviews. It’s also been downloaded over a million times, which makes the recent announcement of its cancellation especially shocking to fans.

Even though one My Hero Academia game is ending, fans still have plenty of options, especially now with the release of My Hero Academia: All’s Justice. This new fighting game from Byking Inc. lets players battle it out in large 3D arenas with a huge roster of over 60 characters, fighting in teams of three versus three.

Before the game launched, the creator had a chance to play it. They shared that being the original author made the experience even better, and described the game as funny, delightful, and often wonderfully silly.

Horikoshi added that the game really felt like My Hero Academia to him. He was particularly impressed with how powerful each character’s abilities were and praised the detailed facial expressions and smooth animations, saying they made the game really enjoyable. He’s excited to jump into online battles and compete against other players!

You can download My Hero Academia Ultra Impact on your phone or tablet through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, but only until May 18th.
