As a seasoned movie critic with a background in criminal justice studies, I find myself deeply troubled by the recent events involving Chrisean Rock and Blueface. The latest chapter in their tumultuous relationship unfolded at a San Fernando Valley courthouse where Rock was arrested for assaulting James Wright during a performance at the Novo in downtown Los Angeles.
Chrisean Rock, who is Blueface’s occasional partner and the mother of his 9-month-old son, has been given a 30-day jail sentence and 12 months of probation following a chaotic altercation and arrest. However, she could be taken into custody in Oklahoma as well due to an outstanding warrant.
Chrisean Malone, also known as Rock, was taken into custody at a San Fernando Valley courthouse on Friday. She was present during Blueface’s (Johnathan Porter) probation hearing for a violation. According to reports from The Times and TMZ, Rock was led out of the courthouse in handcuffs before Blueface received a jail sentence for the violation, which stems from his role in a 2022 Las Vegas shooting incident.
On November 10, at the Novo in downtown Los Angeles where Tamar Braxton was performing, an assault occurred resulting in Rock’s subsequent arrest and sentencing. As stated in a lawsuit filed by James Wright, the victim in this case, Rock attacked him violently, punching him several times in the face while wearing rings that left him with two broken teeth.
On Friday, Rock admitted to not contesting the charges against her before being sentenced, as indicated in the court documents obtained by The Times for easier understanding. As a result, she received both imprisonment and probation. Notably, her probation terms restrict her from approaching within 100 yards of Wright or the Novo.
A well-known figure from reality TV and rap music is currently wanted in Oklahoma. This information was shared by an LAPD representative to Complex, who described it as a “fugitive from justice warrant.” It’s believed that this warrant might stem from the star’s probation following a 2022 drug-related arrest in Oklahoma. The representative didn’t provide any details on when or if the individual will be handed over to Oklahoma authorities.
Karlissa Safford, Blueface’s mother, described Rock’s arrest as unfortunate timing and expressed disappointment over being taken into custody while she was attending court to support her boyfriend. She considered this action as a low blow.
It’s very gracious of her to make that comment, given that Rock expressed a desire for Safford’s harm during a live Instagram session in January.
Grandma seems deeply worried about Chrisean Jr.’s welfare, as evidenced by her plea on Instagram: “Could you help get Chris Junior’s parents released from jail?” She even reached out to Kim Kardashian, known for her advocacy efforts in criminal justice reform.
