As a dedicated fan of Kendrick Lamar, I was initially devastated when I couldn’t secure tickets to his highly anticipated Juneteenth show at the Kia Forum. But then, I discovered that Amazon Prime Video and Twitch would be streaming the event live – a game-changer for me!
discover how to enjoy the exclusive concert from the comfort of your home.
On Wednesday at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the rapper who goes by “Not Like Us” and hails from Compton, is set to put on an exclusive show for local fans. This will be his first live performance in Southern California since his feud with Drake resulted in a series of harsh diss tracks. The event, which was announced earlier this month and falls on Juneteenth, promises a mix of his popular tunes and fresh new music.
You can still purchase resell tickets for Lamar’s “The Pop Out — Ken & Friends” concert on Ticketmaster, with prices varying from $496 to an impressive $2,500. However, good news for budget-conscious fans: They also have the opportunity to watch the show live online at a more affordable cost.
Starting at 4 p.m., Amazon’s Prime Video will broadcast the event, which is produced by Lamar’s pgLang label and agency Free Lunch. Kendrick Lamar himself will be present, accompanied by “surprise guests” as mentioned by Prime Video. Additionally, Twitch, an Amazon-owned platform, will simulcast the show through Amazon Music’s channel.
“We’re locked in,” Twitch tweeted Wednesday afternoon.
Prior to Lamar’s performance at 5:45 p.m., 92.3 KRRL’s DJ Hed and DJ Mustard, along with their special guests, will warm up the crowd starting from 4 p.m. With DJ Hed taking the lead and announcing his set time on Instagram, followed by Mustard’s performance at 4:45 p.m., they are sure to create an exciting atmosphere for Lamar’s highly-anticipated show.
“The term ‘The Pop Off’ originated from a line in Kendrick Lamar’s lively track “Not Like Us,” which was one of several diss songs he put out in response to Drake’s accusations of domestic violence. Their public dispute dates back to March, when Lamar rapped in Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” that he didn’t agree with the notion that Drake and J. Cole were on par with his abilities – a claim J. Cole made last year in Drake’s “First Person Shooter.””
The beef between Lamar and Drake escalated dramatically with numerous diss tracks being released, where each artist fiercely accused the other of questionable actions in songs such as Drake’s “Family Matters” and Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and “Meet the Grahams.” During this conflict, an incident occurred at Drake’s Toronto residence resulting in a security guard being hospitalized after being shot.
Lately, it appears that the animosity between the two rappers and some of their associates has lessened. Around late May, Drake playfully mocked Metro Boomin’s popular “BBL Drizzy” beat by recording a verse for Sexxy Red’s track, “U My Everything.”
I’ve been eagerly following the buzz online, and it seems that Lamar is set to make some magic happen at the Kia Forum. Rumors swirl that he’ll be shooting his music video for “Not Like Us” in Compton this very week.
