Neil Young and Crazy Horse cancel tour, Hollywood Bowl show: ‘A couple of us got sick’

As a long-time fan of Neil Young and Crazy Horse, I was looking forward to their Love Earth tour with bated breath. Their music has been a constant companion throughout my life, providing me with solace, inspiration, and a sense of connection to something greater than myself. So when I heard that the remaining shows of their tour had been canceled due to health issues among band members, I was deeply disappointed.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have decided to pause their Love Earth tour and have regrettably cancelled the upcoming concerts.

On his website, Young declared the cancellation of the upcoming shows on Wednesday, explaining that some members of Crazy Horse, consisting of him, Ralph Molina (co-founder), Billy Talbot (bassist), and Micah Nelson (Willie Nelson’s son and singer), were dealing with health concerns. The statement read, “A few of us fell ill after our Detroit concert at Pine Knob.” They didn’t specify which band members were unwell or disclosed the details about their illnesses.

“Regrettably, we’re not all the way back to normal yet, which means our much-anticipated tour will need to take an unexpected hiatus.”

In February, Crazy Horse unveiled the schedule for their Love Earth tour, which included a stop at Michigan’s Pine Knob and several planned performances in Canada and at the Hollywood Bowl in late September. Unfortunately, it appears that these shows have been canceled. However, the band has expressed their willingness to play those missed dates once they are prepared to perform again.

“The priority is good health,” was clearly expressed. “Our goal is to continue providing you with more performances and new music … and for our own satisfaction as well.”

A San Diego concert marked the start of Young’s tour in late April 2023, a month following his decision to put his music back on Spotify after a two-year absence. He had removed his catalog from the streaming platform in 2022 due to concerns over “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast being given a platform by Spotify, which he believed was spreading misinformation about medicine.

As a devoted moviegoer, I’d put it this way: Back in March, I expressed my concern on my site about how Apple and Amazon were now offering misleading podcast content that I had previously spoken out against on Spotify.

“I couldn’t abandon Spotify like I did with other platforms since it remains a significant streaming outlet for my music. Therefore, I had no choice but to go back.”

About fourteen days after him, Joni Mitchell, following in Young’s footsteps from 2022, softly resurfaced on the music streaming site as well.
