2024 Emmy nominations: Here’s the full list

As a seasoned television critic with decades of experience under my belt, I have had the privilege of witnessing the evolution of small-screen storytelling and the remarkable actors who bring these narratives to life. Having watched countless hours of programming, I have developed a keen eye for talent and a deep appreciation for the craft.

The 2024 Emmy nominations are here.

I had the pleasure of tuning in to the Emmy Awards nomination announcement on Wednesday morning, an event made even more exciting by the presence of esteemed actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale. Joining them was Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for the live-streamed ceremony. As the announcements came to a close, Abrego delivered a delightful surprise: I, Sheryl Lee Ralph, had been nominated once again for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for my role in “Abbott Elementary.” What an honor it is to be recognized in this way!

At the Emmy Awards held in January 2024, despite the delay caused by the strike, “The Bear” from FX emerged as a major contender in the comedy category. This year, this workplace comedy set in a kitchen received an impressive 23 nominations. These included recognition for the series itself, lead actors Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, and several supporting actors such as Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. With this number of nods, “The Bear” broke the record for the most nominations in a single year within the comedy genre. “Only Murders in the Building” and “Hacks” received 21 and 16 nominations respectively.

As a movie buff, I was blown away by FX’s magnificent Japanese historical drama, “Shōgun.” This series truly took drama to the next level with an impressive total of 25 nominations. I was personally captivated by Anna Sawai’s exceptional performance as the lead actress, and Hiroyuki Sanada’s powerful portrayal as the lead actor did not go unnoticed. Supporting actors Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira also shone, earning well-deserved nominations. “The Crown” followed closely behind with 18 nods, while “Fallout,” “The Morning Show,” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” each received a commendable 16 nominations.

As a longtime television enthusiast and someone who has been following the Emmy Awards for decades, I’m always thrilled to see the list of nominees for the upcoming ceremony. It’s an exciting time in the TV world as we get to celebrate the best of the best in various categories.
