Dr. Jen Ashton is saying goodbye to ‘Good Morning America’ and ABC News after 13 years

As a movie buff with a deep appreciation for compelling storylines and character development, I can’t help but be moved by Dr. Jen Ashton’s decision to leave her esteemed role at ABC News after 13 years. Her dedication to breaking down complex health information into relatable and humorous content has been an invaluable asset to the network, and it’s no surprise that her departure was met with heartfelt tributes from her colleagues and the medical community.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Jennifer “Jen” Ashton for the past 13 years at “Good Morning America” and ABC News. However, it’s time for me to bid farewell to my trusty stethoscope as I embark on a new journey.

I’ve had the pleasure of following Dr. Jen’s informative and entertaining journey as the chief medical correspondent and co-host of “GMA3: What You Need to Know” on ABC. Her ability to explain complex health information with a dash of humor has always left me both educated and amused. However, it seems that Dr. Jen is bidding farewell to the small screen to devote more time to her growing wellness company.

She shared that we covered some pivotal points in our nation’s health history, a responsibility I found deeply meaningful and rewarding as the leading figure of the top-ranked network in this field.

When I reflect on the past 13-plus years, it’s the instances where we as a team made a difference by providing valuable insights, perspectives, and analysis during pivotal moments in our nation’s history that truly shine. In my opinion, no other network news outlet can match our ability to do this at ABC.

In my movie review perspective, back in April, Dr. Jen made an announcement that she was bidding farewell to ABC with a heavy heart. She shared her decision to pour all of her energy, time, and expertise into Ajenda, a thriving wellness company specializing in obesity management, gynecological care, fitness, and nutrition.

She expressed her belief that there is a significant demand for reliable and effective women’s health information and dialogue to current existence. (Michael Strahan was mentioned originally for context)

The company concentrates on providing information, content, building communities, and offering symptom relief. It began with the complimentary newsletter, named Ajenda, featuring Jen as its hostess – isn’t that clever? I’ve truly enjoyed working on it.

Dr. Jen also reassured audiences — and her “GMA” co-hosts — that she wasn’t gone for good.

“You guys are my family,” she said Thursday. “I’ll always be just a phone call away.”
