Overwatch 2’s new hero, Juno (Space Ranger), revealed in first gameplay
As a long-time Overwatch player with hundreds of hours clocked in, I’m beyond excited for the arrival of Juno in the game. The limited-time trial this weekend is a perfect opportunity to get a feel for her unique abilities and playstyle.
As a longtime fan of Overwatch and Blizzard Entertainment, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming addition of Juno to the game. Her introduction is particularly intriguing to me because I’ve always appreciated the richness and diversity of characters in Overwatch.
Juno’s reveal trailer shows off her primary weapon, abilities, and ultimate, which include:
- Mediblaster, a submachine gun that heals teammates and damages enemies;
- Glide Boost, which lets Juno hover for a brief period (and perform a sweet flying roundhouse kick);
- Pulsar Torpedoes, a lock-on ability that targets allies with healing burst fire and targets enemies with damaging fire;
- Hyper Ring, a deployable portal that gives teammates a big speed boost;
- Orbital Ray, a moving beam that blasts onto the map from orbit, amplifying allies’ damage.
Starting from July 19 to July 21, Overwatch 2 users can try out Juno’s abilities on all platforms during a hero trial. Juno will be accessible in every mode except Competitive Play. The character is set to be launched officially in Overwatch 2 on Aug. 20, coinciding with the commencement of season 12.

At BlizzCon 2023, Blizzard gave a sneak peek of Juno, previously called Space Ranger, as a potential new hero for Overwatch 2. She was introduced as a Martian colonist and a versatile support character with excellent vertical mobility. Recently, Blizzard hinted at Juno’s upcoming debut in the game by revealing that she had traveled from Mars to Earth and docked her landing craft on the Dorado map.
There’s a possibility that Juno is connected to Jiaya, an old friend of Mei’s who used to work for Lucheng Interstellar, the Chinese corporation behind the Horizon Lunar Colony. It seems that Lucheng Interstellar was also engaged in establishing a settlement on Mars. Notably, Juno’s suit bears the Lucheng emblem. In Roman mythology, Juno is known as the mother of Mars. We look forward to uncovering more about Juno’s function and her ties to other Overwatch characters soon.
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I can now access Overwatch 2 on multiple platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Each gaming session feels like a new adventure!
