The Duffer Brothers to produce psychological wedding-set horror series for Netflix

As a huge fan of horror shows and Netflix Originals, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming series “Something Very Bad is Going to Happen.” The ominous title alone sends shivers down my spine, and the fact that it’s an atmospheric horror set around a wedding that seems doomed from the start? Sign me up!

Titled “A Sinister Wedding“, this Netflix production is depicted as an “atmospheric horror series” leading up to a wedding with ominous undertones from the very beginning. The title’s foreshadowing implies that things will not go as planned at the wedding.

I, Haley Z. Boston, am thrilled to take the helm as the creator and showrunner of this exciting new series. Not only will I be overseeing its development, but I’ll also have the privilege of executive producing it. My resume includes stints as a staff writer on Netflix’s original show “Brand New Cherry Flavor,” which was adapted from Todd Grimson’s book. Additionally, I penned the teleplay for an episode titled “The Outside” in Guillermo del Toro’s horror anthology series. The foundation of my upcoming episode comes from a captivating webcomic by E.M. Carroll.

As a gamer excitedly anticipating my next horror adventure, I can’t contain my excitement after hearing the latest news from the Duffers. They’ve shared their enthusiasm for their upcoming project in a recent statement.

We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script. She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.

The Duffers are currently in the midst of producing “Stranger Things” season 5, causing a delay in the release of “Something Very Bad.” Based on a recent update from the set, it seems that half of the fifth season’s filming has been completed. With promises of an even larger and more action-packed finale than what we’ve seen before, fans may have to wait a while longer for the next big screen adventure.

Star Maya Hawke, the actress behind Robin in the series, previously mentioned that producing each season felt closer to creating eight lengthy films rather than typical episodic TV. Currently, the fifth installment is anticipated for release around 2025.
