This Week in Star Wars Comics: Leia takes center stage

As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I am thrilled to see Leia Organa taking center stage in the latest comic book series. The summer heat may be relentless, but it can’t dampen my excitement for this upcoming arc in Star Wars (2020). Having grown up with these characters and their stories, I can deeply resonate with Leia’s experiences, especially during this period between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

As we savor the sweltering summer days (I’ve mentioned this before, but don’t forget to stay hydrated!), we press on with the ongoing series of “Star Wars (2020)” leading up to its finale in September. Following the recent story arcs featuring Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian, it’s now Leia Organa’s turn to shine in the limelight.

Let’s dive into her story This Week in Star Wars Comics.

Star Wars #48

In the latest installment of “Star Wars” comic series, issue #48, Leia takes center stage as we delve into a two-part narrative. This storyline unfolds during the time gap between “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.” With Han Solo still missing, Leia’s relentless search for him becomes her primary concern. However, the painful memory of the destruction of Alderaan continues to haunt her as she assumes the role of Rebellion General. The looming threat of a new Death Star adds to her fears – another planet could be at risk of annihilation while Leia grapples with the possibility of losing Han forever.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that writer Charles Soule has given us a sneak peek into the upcoming “Star Wars 48-49” storyline focusing on Leia. He mentioned on his Threads account that these issues will be Leia-centric and promised an engaging experience. Growing up, Leia was just a kid during the original trilogy, with “A New Hope” finding her at 19 and “The Empire Strikes Back” introducing us to a 22-year-old Leia. Soule acknowledged the weight of her responsibilities, saying, “It was a lot.”

Together with Soule, Jethro Morales provides the illustrations for Star Wars issue 48. The cover art is created by Steven Segovia.

As a devoted Star Wars comic book gamer, I’ve reached the end of another thrilling week filled with galactic adventures. Don’t forget to drop by every Wednesday for exclusive sneak peeks and intriguing insights into the stunning artwork that lies between those captivating splash pages!
