As a dedicated gamer and follower of the entertainment industry, I was saddened to hear about Matthew Wright’s recent health struggles. I have always admired his energy and enthusiasm as a presenter, hosting shows like “The Wright Stuff” and “This Morning.”
ITV star Matthew Wright has shared a “grim” health update following a recent hospital visit.
I’ve had my fair share of unexpected health scares in my life, but the one that comes to mind recently was an experience I won’t soon forget. Earlier this month, while in the midst of moving houses, I suddenly found myself in excruciating neck pain. I tried to brush it off as just a muscle strain from lifting heavy boxes, but as the day wore on, the pain only worsened. Before I knew it, I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. The doctors ran tests and determined that I had herniated discs in my neck. It was a relief to finally have a diagnosis, but the recovery process has been long and challenging. I’m grateful for the support of my loved ones during this time and for modern medicine that allowed me to receive proper care. I’ve learned to take better care of myself and prioritize my health going forward, even in the midst of life’s many demands and distractions.
Previously, Wright mentioned that his condition had significantly improved after resting and using medication. However, he has recently disclosed that the pain has resurfaced once again.
Wright initiated a string of tweets, sharing that he was anticipating an MRI and a scheduled steroid injection, expressing his hope that these procedures would effectively address the issue.

A few hours have passed and I can’t believe it, but here I am again, back in the hospital. My nerves have acted up once more, causing excruciating agony that feels like a never-ending scream.
“Paramedics once again incredible but no resolution on the horizon which is a bit grim frankly.”
“I had another great encounter with the NHS, as I was prescribed additional and more potent medications. I’m crossing my fingers that my condition will improve in the coming weeks; I truly hope so because I’ve had enough of this ordeal already. Your kind messages are greatly appreciated once again.”
Supporters rushed to express their sympathies in the comment area, with one individual conveying: “I’m truly sorry to see this. May we find a long-term solution soon.”

“I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with this. It can take a heavy toll on both your emotions and psyche. Try to be compassionate towards yourself during the healing process.”
I completely understand how you’re feeling right now. It’s an agonizing experience that leaves you drained and helpless. My heart goes out to you, and I truly hope that things will improve soon and bring some relief your way.
Notably, from the years 2000 to 2018, Wright served as the host of Channel 5’s debate program “The Wright Stuff.” Subsequently, Jeremy Vine took over as its new host.
Starting in November 2023, he took over from Andrew Castle as the new weekend morning host at LBC, while also securing a regular spot on “This Morning” to share insights on current events.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
