Nicole Kidman and her family have something to hide in The Perfect Couple (Watch the suspenseful trailer!)

As a long-time fan of both movies and television, I’ve seen my fair share of stellar performances from some of the biggest names in Hollywood. But few can compare to the captivating talent of Nicole Kidman. From her early days alongside Tom Cruise in “Days of Thunder” to her Academy Award-winning role in “The Hours,” Kidman has consistently delivered memorable and award-worthy performances on the big screen.

Nicole Kidman is making her return to television, and the initial preview for “The Perfect Couple” on Netflix suggests that this series harbors hidden, ominous elements.

Nicole Kidman is best known for her films, starting with her debut alongside Tom Cruise in “Days of Thunder” in 1990. This partnership launched a string of box office successes and an Oscar win for her role in “The Hours” in 2002. However, Kidman has also achieved great success in television. She received multiple Emmy awards for her outstanding performances in “Big Little Lies,” where she was both the lead actress and producer, as well as in “Nine Perfect Strangers.”

Currently, Kidman returns to our screens with the upcoming Netflix production, “The Perfect Couple,” based on Elin Hilderbrand’s novel. The story revolves around Amelia, portrayed by Eve Hewson, who develops a romantic interest in Benji (Billy Howle), the scion of a wealthy family headed by renowned author Greer. Invited to their Nantucket beach house, Amelia feels warmly received by them.

Amelia quickly discovers that the family harbors many hidden shadows, which become even more ominous when a corpse appears on the shore. As the probe deepens and their true deceit unfolds, Amelia ponders whether this is the kind of clan she’s prepared to join.

The Winbury family arguably has more secrets than they do money… and they have a lot of money. When it comes time to celebrate the wedding of one of their sons, Greer and Tag spare no expense. The gathering is beautiful, at least until someone turns up dead just before the big wedding. Instantly, what was a joyous gathering turns into an investigation, and everyone is a suspect.

Check out the great trailer for The Perfect Couple

The trailer commences with the captivating lyrics “you’re too good to be true,” setting the stage for Amelia’s (Meryl Streep) seemingly idyllic introduction into the family, where Greer (Nicole Kidman) and her husband Tag (Liev Schreiber) appear blissfully married with an ideal household. However, the scene shifts dramatically when Greer is seen in a police interrogation room, signaling a sinister transformation in the storyline.

The preview showcases the actors, such as Dakota Johnson, Meghann Fahy, and Jack Reynor, revealing intriguing interactions and signs of potential affairs, fights, and concealed secrets. The family’s behavior hints at a touch of dark comedy, suggesting they view these events as an unwelcome disturbance to their vacation plans. Furthermore, Amelia seems to have a mysterious past that may be explored throughout the series.

As an avid fan, I’m excited to share that the upcoming series, “The Perfect Couple,” promises to maintain the engaging structure of the novel by interweaving the present-day murder investigation with the past events leading up to it. Boasting a captivating ensemble cast, breathtaking locations, and an intriguing whodunit plot, I can’t wait to tune in when it premieres on Netflix this autumn.

The Perfect Couple premieres September 5 on Netflix.
