NASCAR Cup Series: Pocono race not being broadcast on NBC

As a dedicated NASCAR gamer with years of experience following the sport, I’m deeply disappointed that Sunday’s race at Pocono Raceway isn’t being shown live on NBC. Don’t get me wrong, USA Network is great, but there’s just something special about having access to the biggest races on the main network.

As a devoted NASCAR fan, I’ve noticed that during the first four races of NBC’s coverage in the 2024 Cup Series, two events were broadcast live on the primary NBC channel, while the other two races were aired live on USA Network.

In the 2022 broadcasting lineup, USA Network took over as an appealing option when NBC’s sports programming was on air, following the closure of NBC Sports Network towards the end of the previous year.

As a dedicated racing fan, I’m thrilled to share that the last two exhilarating NASCAR races, held at Nashville Superspeedway and the streets of Chicago, were broadcast live on NBC. However, for the upcoming race at Pocono Raceway this Sunday, get ready for another adrenaline-pumping experience as it will be shown live on USA Network.

Pocono race not being shown on NBC

As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: Every Sunday, I tune in for the thrilling Great American Getaway 400 at Long Pond’s Tricky Triangle. Spanning an action-packed 160 laps and covering a dynamic three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) track, this race marks my third adventure in the six regular season events broadcasted on USA Network.

Unlike USA Network which will telecast six regular season races, NBC holds the rights for the majority of this year’s playoffs consisting of four rounds and 10 races. Specifically, USA Network will be showing the initial four postseason races, while NBC will be responsible for broadcasting the concluding six.

The 2024 racing season marks the tenth and last year of the existing media rights agreement. Starting from 2025, a fresh seven-year contract will take over, resulting in reduced broadcasting shares for both Fox and NBC. Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports are slated to join the mix, each acquiring rights to five races.

Fox will air fewer Formula One races, going from 16 to 12 (plus two exhibitions), resulting in more races being broadcast on Fox Sports 1 (nine) compared to Fox (five). A similar situation applies to NBC, which is reducing its coverage from 20 races to 14. In contrast, USA Network will continue to showcase 10 races, while NBC’s race count will decrease from 10 to just four.

USA Network will air live broadcasts of the Great American Getaway 400 race at Pocono Raceway starting at 2:30 p.m. ET on July 14. Consider initiating a free trial with FuboTV now to ensure you don’t miss any exciting moments during this racing weekend!
