Five series not to miss from the first half of 2024!
As a passionate viewer, I’ve been absolutely captivated by the outstanding television offerings of the first half of 2024. With summer in full swing and temperatures rising, it’s essential to make the most of our free time and catch up on the best shows of the year. Below are my top five TV series recommendations from the past six months, presented in ascending order.
As a devoted fan of television, I’m thrilled we’ve reached July! The mercury is rising, summer is in full bloom, and we’re more than halfway through the year. Have you maximized your enjoyment during the first six months? Caught up on the most captivating shows?
No. 5: Ripley, Netflix
As a passionate gamer and avid fan of the Fallout series, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the new eight-episode adaptation on Prime Video. The team behind this production has truly outdone themselves in bringing the dystopian world of Fallout to life on the small screen.
I recently discovered this intriguing four-part series titled “Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office” on PBS, which originally aired in England on the BBC. Featuring Toby Jones and an impressive ensemble cast, it’s based on true events of local sub-postmasters who were wrongfully accused by the Post Office and their tireless quest for justice. Each episode, approximately an hour long, kept me captivated from start to finish, leaving me unable to pause until I uncovered the next twist in the story.
As a huge fan, I can’t help but rave about “Shogun,” the captivating Hulu series. This masterpiece could very well have been the standout production of the first half of the year. Based on James Clavell’s novel, this grand adaptation takes us back in time to feudal Japan, where lords wage war for power. I found myself completely immersed as an English sailor, Cosmo Jarvis, navigated through it all. The storytelling was nothing short of richly dramatic and emotional, transporting me right into the heart of the action.
As a huge fan of “The Bear,” I’m thrilled that the show came back for its third season on June 26, managing to make it onto my list at the last minute. In this new installment, we follow the opening of The Bear restaurant and watch as our beloved characters, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Syd (Ayo Edibri), and Ritchie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), grapple with their personal issues while tackling this fresh challenge. The opening episode, “Tomorrow,” is a cinematic masterpiece, the most impressive thing I’ve seen on TV this year. The series also boasts an incredible ensemble cast, featuring stars like Olivia Coleman and Will Poulter, who make frequent appearances throughout the 10-episode season. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this must-watch show.
