Jane Lynch Reveals The ‘Juicy’ Role She Remembers Fondly

Jane Lynch has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, but she considers one particular role to be especially memorable. Interestingly, it’s not the part most people recognize her from.

I was thrilled when I landed the role of Sophie Lennon in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – it was such a fantastic character! I often reflected on how much fun I had playing her. It was a real gift from Amy and Dan Palladino to be given that opportunity – a truly wonderful experience.

Marin Hinkle played Sophie Lennon throughout the entire series. She started as a guest star and later became a regular in Season 3. Her character was a comedian who pretended to be a typical housewife from Queens by wearing a fat suit – but this was just a disguise for her true life as a rich and self-absorbed socialite. Sophie often competed with Midge Maisel (played by Rachel Brosnahan) in the stand-up comedy scene.

Jane Lynch Will Star as Gabby’s Mom on Happy’s Place

It’s unknown how often Jane Lynch will be on the Reba McEntire sitcom, but she’s happy to reprise her role as Val whenever asked. She described Val as a difficult character, explaining that Val was inspired by the mother of one of the show’s writers, who has narcissistic tendencies. Lynch said Val needs to be the center of attention and is skilled at manipulating others, particularly her daughter.

Val shows up just after Gabby makes the difficult decision to abandon her dream of having a baby. The show will likely explore the tension between Val and Gabby as they deal with this, with Bobbie trying to help them work through their issues. Elsewhere in the episode, Isabella and Steve investigate Gabby’s childhood stories about her mother, trying to figure out what really happened.

You can watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Prime Video. For Happy’s Place, new episodes air Fridays at 8 PM Eastern on NBC, and they become available to stream on Peacock the following day.
