Rebecca Gayheart seemed cheerful after having lunch with a colleague of her late husband, Eric Dane, on Friday.
The 54-year-old actress looked happy after a meeting with Ellen Pompeo, 56, in Beverly Hills.
Pompeo offered support to Gayheart, joining her publicly for the first time since her husband passed away last month, shortly after Gayheart shared a moving remembrance of him.
Gayheart appeared cheerful as she entered the parking garage following their lunch together.
For a relaxed outing, she wore large, bright red glasses and a big hat. She removed the hat briefly while reaching into her purse.
She chose a comfortable outfit, wearing a large sweatshirt with the sleeves pushed up and simple track pants.
During the outing, Pompeo was also spotted walking into the parking area alone, wearing a stylish jumpsuit and carrying a high-end Hermes handbag.
This announcement follows the death of Dane, who passed away on February 19th at 53 after a struggle with ALS.
He’s best known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan (‘McSteamy’) on Grey’s Anatomy, appearing in 145 episodes. He also worked alongside Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, for six seasons of the long-running medical drama.
As many of you know, just under a year ago I shared my diagnosis of ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. I did this because I wanted to shine a light on this challenging condition and, more importantly, to support the incredible work being done to find a cure. It’s a rapidly progressing disease, and raising awareness felt like a vital step in helping researchers make breakthroughs.
Even though Dane and Gayheart separated in 2017, they continued to get along and co-parent their children without ever completing their divorce. They actually decided to stay together just before Dane shared his diagnosis of ALS.
Gayheart and the TV star had been married since 2004 and shared two daughters together.
The actress was seen with her daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14, on Tuesday. It was the family’s first public outing since the death of their father.
She continued to support him amid his decline, even as both of them continued to date other people.
She recently posted some photos of her late husband and their kids, sharing memories of happier times together.
She posted family photos to mark one month since his passing, along with a message saying, ‘There are no words. All our love forever—your daughters.’
The day before, she and her daughters walked the red carpet at the premiere of the movie The Drama, which featured Zendaya (from the show Euphoria) and Robert Pattinson.
After Dane’s death, Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, was one of many people who donated to a GoFundMe campaign created by Gayheart’s friends. The campaign aimed to provide financial support for her and her daughters.
A public memorial service for Dane will take place in Los Angeles soon, as was announced earlier this week.
The event seems to have started because fans were upset that Dane was not included in the Oscars’ memorial segment last Sunday, and they decided to take action.
According to a friend of Gayheart, the memorial service was intended to help Dane feel happy, loved, and to understand that his life had meaning.
